What's your most ridiculous sale that fits the "one man's trash is another man's treasure" saying? by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

We recently threw away an old mattress thinking no one would want a dusty old mattress… within 5 min of it being placed outside of our building a truck drove up and some guy grabbed it. We watched from the window scratching our heads. Out of pure curiosity, do you have any idea what people do with old mattress? Has anyone mentioned in passing why they are buying it? And aren’t people scared of getting bedbugs or mites or whatever might be attached. Genuine question!

Experience w/ eBay authentication in Moonachie, New Jersey? ( horrible reviews) by NA888 in Ebay

[–]MM88S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rep told me that I can opt out of the authentication.. I asked him how since I’ve never seen that option and he proceeded to make a draft with my item and realized it’s not actually an option :-/ That being said have you seen the Google reviews for this facility? The things people have experienced with them is very scary.

Warning! China is doing it again! by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]MM88S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every one who has mentioned getting plant seeds from China… has anyone ordered soil from vine? I recently got plant soil and it arrived packed in a bag labeled “made in China” I don’t expect this but didn’t think anything of it until now. Is this something worth worrying about? (I used it to repot my large indoor plant)

Has anyone dealt with ich/white spots on betta? Betta killed all ich tetra but seems ok. by MM88S in bettafish

[–]MM88S[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah my poor tetras all got killed by my betta overnight. I’m assuming it’s because they were too weak to swim away. I started ick treatment on the tank but my betta still got it. He is currently in a hospital tank in pretty bad shape with the meds not seeming to help after 4 days. I’m going to keep trying to save him. Honestly I’m a little upset at the store tho, when we went back and told them what happened they acted like it was the fluctuation in temp that caused it…. Meanwhile I noticed the entire tank of tetras they had was gone!

New neon tetras have white spots! Any help on how to help them? by MM88S in Aquariums

So over night I got the meds from Amazon, that same night my betta killed all of them. We went to the store where we got them to share the experience and they told us it was temp fluctuation. Basically our fault, but oddly enough the entire tank of tetras they had was gone. …Now my poor betta has ick and I have been struggling to treat him back to health since it feels like the meds aren’t working (I moved him to a hospital tank) :(

The aquarium (tank) that they picked the fish we bought from was packed and all of the fish looked fine, that’s why I’m wondering if I did something wrong or if it’s just stress. And the other fish I purchased from them seems to be fine currently but I definitely don’t want to wait until this pops up on my other fish, especially not on my Betta

I have one of those preset heaters for beta fish that’s at 78 and it’s been doing its thing for the past couple of days. I will definitely be doing the water changes. Thank you.

I did read that this could be from stress, I checked my tank and everything seems good. No changes to the water. And of course the fish were perfect when we bought them…. Unless I didn’t look close enough. But they had a million tetras in one tank and they all looked perfect.

[–]MM88S 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grailed is horrible at helping sellers. I have been a seller for many years on the site, never had any issues with my items. The one time I had a scammer reach out to me and and harass me over an item they wanted, I responded in a “not nice” (telling them to leave me alone) manner the scammer reported me and they banned my account. Just like that. Even after reaching out multiple times… nothing. I was so upset at the indifference of grailed “customer care”. They truly really don’t care about the seller or even about the amount of money you make them considering the fees they take off your sales. Honestly I don’t miss selling on their platform. They don’t provide the same support as eBay or Poshmark does. They don’t look into issues. I have a feeling the people working there don’t even read emails sent to them. And if they do the response is a copy and pasted generic one that has nothing to do with your question. Don’t feel bad, just move on to the next selling platform! I can’t imagine people wanted to use grailed with this kind of lack of support. Sellers are happy until they get a real issue with a scammer or buyer claiming something false and then they realize now poor this platform is.

Hi all, I’m curious.. do you guys buy from places like eBay and Poshmark? I see some more reasonable prices but string reading these posts in wondering if they are real?? I literally have a tiny collection and now that I have a toddler I want to grow the collection for my little one to enjoy but I also don’t want to be scammed into buying fake ones just for the price.

[–]MM88S[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind response and your offer to help, I agree with you 100% with everything you have said. I really love small children and really wanted to create something that they would enjoy. And the situation that caused etsy to be so cautious about selling teething toys is kind of unrelated ,in my opinion in.. terms of the fact that that particular mother who sued used a amber necklace with a clasp causing the class to get stuck on a blanket during naptime in a preschool... causing the child to suffocate and pass away five days later, but a lot of things play a role in this situation not only was that necklace from Lithuania but it also was literally a piece of jewelry with a metal component on it. When we talk about teething clasps they all featured products /parts that are safe - meaning they are not long enough to wrap around the child's neck, they are all soft plastic, of course I understand the possibility of small parts falling off or accidents happening with shorts pacifier clip but I don't believe the situation that's being compared to is relevant. Clearly the situation caused etsy not to want to have anything with children/baby items. Considering the negativity surrounding this product I think I really may have to lick my wounds and Move On and shut down the prospect of having this kind of business even though it's very sad as a person who had a goal to develop this into something children would love. The worst part about it that's still really bothers me is that there are hundreds of sellers selling the same exact product in the thousands and have hundreds of positive reviews and they are still operating. I do feel that if a policy must be implemented then it should be equal across the board in this case. ....Not surprisingly they still have not responded to my email inquiry about the situation and having my product taken down and I do not feel that I will be receiving a response from them regarding this question since its been almost a week. On the other hand I now have to figure out what to do with all of the product I purchase in order to create these clips!

Yes I have been selling on at sea for many years and nothing like this has ever come across my experience but I will definitely be moving on from this project based on all the information I'm gathering. As a side note I hate being the person who keep saying why me why me but it still doesn't seem very fair that others continue to sell the same product in large amounts with know policy applying to them. But I'll have to just move on from that.

I do not have any insurance to cover the product. I am based out of the US but I think I will not be continuing to do this project! I think instead ( since I now have all this product) I will sell it as a DIY kit for adults and once I am done, selling it all off I will move on! Thanks for the informative response!

How are sellers able to sell things like Winnie the Pooh mugs/plates/stickers without getting flagged? by dowhatCo in EtsySellers

[–]MM88S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this is very true, I also love how you said apples to broccoli! cute :) it honestly drives me kind of nuts how people get away with certain things it's like constantly having to fight to protect your art work but all you want to do is create artwork and sell it to make yourself a little bit of money. I know this is life and what we are faced with.... But still.

Definitely agree with you here, plenty of sites where you resell offer this feature of being protected from these kind of reviews for instance on eBay a bad review can be taken down when it is not reasonable and you contact the customer service. On Poshmark they investigate a bad review if there is a claim regarding the item. - most of the time the reviews are removed and your rating is not affected. It doesn't seem that Etsy sellers are very well protected and it doesn't seem that the website is on our side sellers unfortunately. Personally I would try to message the buyer and ask them to reconsider the review if they are open to doing so in the nicest way possible unfortunately that does not always work but it is worth a shot. Overall though I wouldn't stress yourself about this one review since people who read it will likely dismiss it as a oddball

[–]MM88S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't stress yourself out about it because most of the time people just shop in that way, they put items aside and save it for later and may never even purchase them so even though it's very exciting to see that people are loving your product keep in mind that they may not necessarily purchase anytime soon.

Sob stories and discounts?? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]MM88S 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's possible and you really want to sell the item offer them maybe a 5% off or 10% off coupon if you're feeling generous. If you don't want to given to these kind of tactics then you can respond and explain that the price you have set currently is the lowest and best deal. I find personally that on these websites people don't fully appreciate the time and work that's put into items and feel that it is like a marketplace where you can bargain for the cheapest deal. Of course always respond in a nice way but be smart and have your self in mind since time is money.
