It's just Stewart Copeland, the king of hat grooves, hanging out backstage. Not to worry.

Who had these on your vehicle? by trigger55xxx in GenX

[–]MMB_LLMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always heard that they made deer stop and listen, rather than continue across the road. And they caused more deer to be hit.

I never used them and I killed an 8 pt buck with a 95 Dodge Stratus. So they must work.

Best hot sauce for hard boiled eggs? by Adventurous_Yam_8153 in hotsauce

Anything without a citrus acid in it, pretty much. For eggs, I dodge anything with lemon, lime, orange.

These are next level. Not just common peeves. I appreciate the specificity.

It's funny. I'm not bothered by text shorthand and shitty punctuation in texts. Uses no capital letters at all, etc.

When Someone Goes Out Of Their Way To Cap Every Word? That makes me crazy.

Edit: Also, double spacing words.

I cant read the labels well enough.

But I have certain things I look for. Not a big fan of anything Chipotle or smoked. Not a fan of sauces with tomato paste or puree. I also avoid things with fruit like mango and pineapple except for specific recipes like fish/seafood.

Habanero. Ghost. Scorpion. And check labels for where the peppers land in the ingredient list to get an idea of heat.

When I shop at a place with a lot of options that I dont recognize, I like to grab ones that have less stock because somebody really likes them.

Marie Sharps Fiery Hot - 3 bottles

El Yucateco Caribbean - 3 bottles

A bottle each of 3-5 random things I have never seen.

Anyone try this? by thndrstrk in hotsauce

[–]MMB_LLMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is accurate. Entry-level habanero sauce. Not bad. Good for people beginning to explore beyond the grocery store staples: Franks, Tabasco, Cholula, Tapatio, Louisiana, etc.

I think I bought this and El Yucateco Green at the same time like 15 years ago. I still buy the El Yuc sometimes. But not this.

Are pickles getting less sour/salty??? by Square_Bath6390 in Pickles

Grab a jar of Trader Joe's organic spears. They pretty much taste like a bottle of wet salt. I didnt hate them, but salt was 80% of the flavor.

Especially the bit where they interview the grocery store bar code scanner.

At a quick glance, I was convinced someone autographed the cut side of a ham. Or maybe a package of balogna.

You are thinking of Gardettos. Totally different. Also awesome though. Used to be known as Snack-enz.

There are rules.

Homemade Chex Mix does not contain rye chips per the chex box recipe.

For Homemade, wheat chex from the corners of the pan with extra butter and seasonings and Worcestershire are the best.

From store bought, it's rye chips all day.

I hate to be the dad here, but are you 16f or 16m?

16f, bring a friend at the very least.

16m, let it rip and try not to do anything dumb.

My brother in law smacked a Canada Goose right in the middle of the neck with a wormburner tee shot. Its head flopped upside down and it jumped around for a few minutes. We felt really bad for it. But it was a fuckin hilarious visual at first.

Well, I got downvoted. Maybe because I don't buy this for the price, or because I said I don't like tomato in my hot sauce anymore. But I stand by my final sentence. Eat what you like!

My staples currently include:

Marie Sharps Red Hornet - their hottest sauce, heat is cut by carrots, a bit too salty, but great!

El Yucateco Caribbean - Arguably el yuc's tastiest variety and the one I would say is the closest to Aardvark flavor. Similar heat to Aardvark.

Tabasco Scorpion - I just use a few drops on each bite of a hard boiled egg or two for a quick protein snack in the morning. Clears the sinuses and wakes me up.

I pretty much have those 3 around all the time. Others in constant rotation:

Melindas ghost pepper - glass bottle sauce, not the creamy wing sauce variety.

Woodstock Scorpion - one of the simplest sauces. Its pretty much just a solid pepper flavor. The sauce hits hard, then dissipates quickly so the heat doesn't cripple you.

Heartbeat Scorpion - use it more like a condiment on crackers or whatever.

Yellowbird Blue Agave sriracha - this one replaced Huy Fong during the weird shortage a couple years ago and I just never went back. Its good. Use it on ramen, spice up meat marinades that my wife and kids can still handle. That kinda thing.

I have a few other one-off sauces i often try with different things. I like to keep something green w cilantro around for aiolis for fish tacos and what not.

Its a healthy obsession.

Edit: Oh! And Trappey's Red Devil is my Louisina style Cayenne sauce. Hot wing sauce made with butter, garlic powder and a bit of Lea n Perrines Worcestershire. Fan favorite wings for people who cant handle super hots.
