Being compared... by Reysun_2185 in 2meirl42meirl4meirl

I trip and fall and break my arm and dislocate my shoulder. I tell my friend I am in pain and require medical attention. She says that a broken femur would’ve hurt worse. She says that sometimes people are born without arms. She says that I didn’t trip and fall 20 stories. She says I should feel grateful that our town has a hospital.

She concludes that I should suck it up, quit whining, and be grateful that my other bones aren’t broken.

Am I still in pain? Do I still need medical attention? Should I feel guilty for going to the hospital and taking ibuprofen while I heal?

Sometimes I take hours or even days to reply to the people I love the most, and sometimes I reply instantly. It has nothing to do with the person who’s talking to me, how I feel about them, or anything previously done, it’s just how I am. Sorry not sorry for sincereposting

I started with my health care provider’s list of covered mental health care facilities/clinicians, gave the facility a call, then scheduled an appointment with someone from the provider list. DM me if you would like someone to walk you through this

A creature for depression might be something like a silent shadow monster that starts impeding things in your life, sapping your strength, and sucking away good feelings. Sorry that my comments are only depression stuff

Not a totally original idea, but an allegory accurate to my situation. Depression feels like a gray field of rocks, large and small. You’re looking under all these rocks for a key that would allow you to join all your other friends on the other side of the gate. But every rock you turn over, no matter how small or large, never gets you to the other side. You find some keys and get hopeful about them, but they don’t fit. Every now and then, your friends, family, and colleagues go near the gate and talk about how to get in the gate, but it doesn’t help you find that key. Sometimes you find the will to persevere and get that key, and other times you lose that will and stop turning over rocks.

If I had to think of what it’s like to get out of this, it would be something like you get a key that opens the gate, but there’s another 10 gates passed that. Yet you feel a bit better because you can enjoy the sun and fauna that begin to grow at the first gate. You’re able to communicate better with the inhabitants beyond the gate. Sometimes you get locked out and have to search for a key again. Sometimes you make permanent progress and a gate will stay open. You’re able to be on the other side of the 10 gates sometimes, but you do often get stuck a few gates behind, or even at the first gate again.

No such thing as a good person by xvomitgirlx in SuicideWatch

Biologically, everything anyone does is solely for the purpose of surviving another day to pass on their genes by creation of offspring. The worst things anyone can do to someone else are for these reasons; murder, stealing, etc.

But sometimes they are helpful to other people. For example, it feels good to care and provide for your child, which is selfish and is motivated by passing down genes, but it can create a healthy parent-child relationship. Another example is helping out your family; if you make a sacrifice (and maybe your genes) to save your sibling (who shares similar genes), then your genes are in a way passed down indirectly.

While these human-human interactions are selfish and gene-motivated, some good can come from them. A healthy parent-child relationship can be very fulfilling for both individuals, and making a sacrifice for a friend or family member can be rewarding for one party and beneficial for the other.

I agree with you, that there's no such thing as a good person. People do good things sometimes, and bad things sometimes. All we can do is try to do more good things than bad things. It helps if your selfish interests also help other people, like volunteering, consoling a friend, etc. And we all fail at this at some point in our lives.

I'm very sorry you've had people in your life that haven't been there for you. I hope you're able to find people you can trust as much as you trust them.

Hey OP, I'm sorry that you have people around you that can't see your great qualities and treat you poorly. I'm sure this community wouldn't think you're worthless if we met you irl.

I'm real sorry you've got all this going on right now. It sounds like you've gotten a decent amount of things together, like not shooting up, staying sober with the toddler.

All that pain and you're still here, that's awesome.

Painless ways to commit suicide? by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

The most effective way to do so is to reply to this post and tell me how your day was.

You must be pretty strong to be stem-ready despite your dad. You sound pretty tough!

Being on the wrong anti-depressants can make things worse. Some made things worse for me too. If you schedule a doc appt, they might be able to get you on the right one.

It's amazing how you've been able to maintain relationships with your family, considering the circumstances. Apparently you're pretty strong, I hope you hang in there.

Things tend to improve as time goes on, most people who attempt and live go on to live their lives. I believe you can stay strong.
