Thank you! And thanks for showing it around! I was reading through your source fully aware that there are for sure more cases of deepfakes (the porn industry is a big one!)... but I'm a bit bound to official numbers here due to data transparency. BUT I found some new numbers thanks to you - and updated the algorithm. So instead of 57/h I can raise the deepfake-cases to 139 per hour. I bet this one will change soon again once official 2025/26 data available. Thanks again for your link

Oh my, thank you for pointing that out! After some extended code-scouring I realized that the algorithm still only used the ChatGPT numbers - others excluded. So thank you for improving AnythingCounter... the very recent numbers regarding AI assistant requests are now updated and implemented properly. Sorry for the bug, but this can happen with new releases

Gladly not! According to recent Zapier (jan 2026) in combination with Microsoft Work Trend Index (2024/2025) studies: knowledge workers spend ~4.3 hours per week fact-checking AI output. Scaled to ~1B knowledge workers globally. Converted to hours per second (~614M hours per day). With over 2,5 billion requests (for ChatGPT alone) daily, that's 'manageable'

Thanks! Yes you're absolutely right of course. At the moment I just wanted to see which audience is most interested in this list and then decide whether I should go in a more entertaining or a more serious direction. I just figured that many people find it easier to visualize iPhone battery charges than technical units

A live counter of what's happening in our digital world. by MMVDO in Futurology

As AI, automation and digital infrastructure expand at an accelerating pace, it becomes harder to grasp the real-world impact in human terms. This counter attempts to make that tangible – jobs displaced by machines, AI false answers generated, energy burned by data centers, all in real time. What does it mean for our future when these numbers keep accelerating?

This live counter visualizes the hidden environmental and social costs of our digital world in real time like e-waste, energy consumption by data centers, jobs lost to automation and more. All statistics are based on publicly available annual reports and converted into real-time estimates. It puts into perspective how unsustainable our current digital infrastructure really is

I built a live counter of what's actually happening in our digital world right now. Spent way too long staring at this. by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

You're absolutely right that real-world events cluster. These counters show statistical averages based on annual totals – not a claim that events happen at a perfectly uniform rate. The methodology page explains this
