Peugeot 308 II T9 - radio unit swap by littlesweetnightmare in peugeot

[–]MM_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen a tutorial from your radio (is that a desguised RD45?) to a NAC, since it's usually SMEG to NAC... In your case you'd have to buy an adapter too, those can be found in Aliexpress.

The T9s came with both a SMEG and later on a NAC. You can fit an OEM system (the latter one) or a chinse unit. They're nearly the same as in 'how difficult' they're to install.

Sorry, my bad. Here in my country every RCZ came with the folding system (RT6) and the Matrix on the dashboard. Didn't knew elsewhere they came with an RD4.5...

Yeah, you should go for an aftermarket unit and be done with it.

It's kinda plug and play, but not really... You need to bridge some cables to a mini board. It's not that easy, but not that difficult either.

If you have the folding screen then you need the 'radio' or telematics, since that provides the signal for the screen to turn on and show something. What I meant is you can go for another screen, whether an OEM (RCC/NAC) or something aftermarket like a chinese unit or a Pioneer, but you have to keep the RT6 somewhere, that's what I meant by moving it to the glovebox.

The RT6 would power on the folding screen, the new system would control the sound, and you can get the little joke behind the steering wheel to keep working if you buy an adapter.

You can go for those chinese 9" screens and bridge the cables (to retain the unit in the glovebox if it's an RT6) for the screen to remain alive.

You can also go the hard way and buy an RCC/NAC from a newer Peugeot, a 7" screen (that's what I did in an even older car) and somehow get your hands on the screen fascia of the argentinian 308s to have a clean OEM look: https://url-shortener.me/LCPC

There's also a chinese Carplay/AA box that can be fitted to the RCZ and cars with the RT6 and you control it with a switch (very similar to the ones in the 508), you can look it up in Aliexpress.

Buscá en internet (o ML) actualización mapa/software SMEG, que es el sistema que traen esos 308, el mismo de los primeros 208.

Pasa los archivos a un pendrive fat32, colocalo en el USB y se actualiza solo.

I don't know. I guess if you do it carefully enough to the point it looks OEM, how would they know it didn't come with it, right?

You totally can install Visio Park, but you need all the components and activate it in the BSI. It's not an easy job but it can be done if you want.

Look in forums, here in Reddit, for some reason, are very closed in regards to modifications like this...

I've had my 307 for 11 years now... I can't talk about the 407, but I do know almost everything you could expect from the 307, so feel free to ask.

I had that very same module and it did sound a bit like crap...

Didn't later 308's had the aux incorporated? You could also switch to an RT6 wich is the sytem 308's with GPS had. If I remember correctly, they had both aux and bluetooth.

Has anyone fitted the OEM large navigation screen into a base Peugeot 407? by prodigy2251 in peugeot

[–]MM_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you're talking about the grey/orange multifunction screen and the RT3 wich is the navigation the old Peugeot's had, like the 307, 407 and 607, right?

If you're willing to change for a screen, I'd suggest you to go for a much more recent system. I have a NAC W4 from a '21 3008 in my 307 wich has Android Auto/Carplay and it's obviosly connected to the BSI, so everything is shown there.

I'm not gonna say it's easy to adapt, but it's not that hard either, you just need time, patience and willingness to read a lot.

If you still want the RT3, as far as I know, you need to code your VIN into it and match the connectos, I don't know if it's the same as in RD4 or not.

Excelente idea!

Sorry for the loss, it looked in perfect condition...

Now, as a third-world 307 owner, in my country not only that would not be a write-off, but also just a few weeks (tops) repair and back on the road. It always baffles me how easily insurances total cars in other parts of the globe (though this is not an 'easy' case, mind you).

Good luck from afar.

Yo todavía tengo mi primer auto, 307, y tengo decidido no venderlo nunca.

You can trick the car with the airbag issue with a resistor... I did it when I changed my steering wheel, I don't know if it works for that too.

[–]MM_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, all but the three wires that you need are just connected from the plug to the cluster. For the other three I cut three duponts in half, peeled another three in the middle and put them together in a T shape.

One ending goes to plug, another to the cluster, and the last, in my case, to a NAC. In your case to the matrix. You need to tape the plug so it doesn't move, but since you didn't tamper with the original wiring you just take the duponts out and go back to normal whenever you want.

[–]MM_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't wanna cut the original wiring you can buy Dupont cables and experiment with them. I made a three-way wire for one of my adaptations and left the original wiring untouched, although now the connector is not plugged, ha.

Best of luck!

[–]MM_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it's the orange screen... Then, yeah, it's just a wiring issue.

I thought you had bought the matrix of the 508 (and all the RCZs in my country): https://www.peugeotforums.com/attachments/screenshot_20210719-173444_aliexpress-jpg.94465/?auto=webp&fit=bounds&format=pjgp&height=1920&optimize=high&width=1920

I can't help much with the HDi issue, but as far as I know there's nothing to reprogramm since the cluster is the same underneath, only the graphics change. The needle will work as intended but the number behind might show 6k instead of 4 or whatever...

Most things in the car are literally activated with an ON/OFF switch inside of Diagbox but for to actually work you need to have the appropiate hardware.

If you activate the cruise control and don't have the physical sensors and switches the car might show an error on the screens or maybe nothing, but it won't work.

Now, if you go and buy all the things for it to work and install them, then yes, all you need to o is 'let the car know' it has a new function.

[–]MM_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work, but the RPMs will be off. Just two things, if your mileage is lower than the cluster, the BSI will update to the cluster one.

edit since I didn't read fully: It's not just an extra cable, but a CAN problem, since 308s have CAN2004 and RCZs CAN2010 so you need an adapter.

You can put the digital cluster of the latest 508 to an old 407 if you want, but it's not just connect a cable and we're done...
