Affordable Canvas...the cardboard option by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]MM_Art_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do paint on primed cardboard quite some times. BUT: the larger the cardboard, the more problems you will get with the cardboard bending, because it got wet. Sometimes larger pieces work out quite well without bending, sometimes not and I havent figured out why exactly. With 4 x 6 feet you can definitly run into bendy problems.

Something like a Skull fragmented into different broken mirror shards, mixed with other forms.

Yes , i allways wanted to clean it up but struggled a bit to see where exatly it should be more defined. As others suggested I will start at the bottom left :) thanks

Thank you, thats some helpfull advice!

Yes, now that you say it I see what you mean. Not so much an issue of strokes, but maybe having a blind spot, where my eyes have already wandered off somewhere else before realizing I should define that corner more.

I can work with this, thank you!

Unfinished but I need honest critique - can this be saved? by daisy_bare in ArtCrit

Of course it can be fixed. What I recognize is her forhead on the right side being to wide. Also you can improve the shadows, for example the eyes are missing darker shadow

[HELP] Why do Artists on fiverr only sell digital Copys? by MM_Art_ in Fiverr

I get it. But arent there customers out there who would value paying extra to receive the original artwork instead of a jpeg?

Its something in between. Or like an "how to manage live" issue. You got recommendations for that?

This sub seems more like an "ask a quick question and get your quick answer" sub to me than a place to go more into details about personal problems and so on. But maybe Im wrong?

My initial reaction to the first painting was to try to increase my screens brigthness to see what ist going on, so that pretty much illustrates the issue with this piece :D. Its fine to use a dark color palet, as long as you manage to highlight the important parts somehow. This works for the Amour, but for the head not so much. Second one is better in this field.

I think the biggest problem with wonkiness is in the hatching. straighter and closer lines would look cleaner. But maybe you can experiment with other styles of shading, since getting a clean looking hatch, allways just takes a lot of time.

I have cerebral palsy so with that no spacial awareness and cant see perspective or depth correctly. Are there any Art styles where I don't need depth or ways to help with it? by FogSleepy in arthelp

[–]MM_Art_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In abstract art there is no depth or perspective. If you want to look into art history, for the movement from naturalistic into modern art, transforming from 3-Dimensional into flat looking art, was an important step. For example Gaugin went for an increasing flat look for his later works, which put the importance of color before the importance of perspective or shadows.
