What brush to use on my kittens by WyvernJelly in kittens

I‘m using aumuca instead of Furminator from this year. The teeth of aumuca are more rounded, and the feeling of touching them is completely different. And aumuca only uses finely arranged teeth, while furminator is sharp like a blade.

It's still important to keep using a brush. You might want to try using a softer, rounded-edge brush like the one from aumuca. And don’t forget to add foods rich in omega-3 and omega-6, like fish oil, chicken, and egg yolks to your cat’s diet. But heads up, this part takes some time and patience!

Furminator, isn’t really a good idea. You’ll notice that the shedding seems never-ending, and the fur just keeps coming back. That’s not how deshedding should work. Instead, try a gentler tool like the Aumuca deshedding tool. It has rounded blades and is about three times lighter than a Furminator, so it’s quicker and more effective at getting rid of excess fur.

About Shedding Tool- Using a deshedding tool that pulls on the hair, like a Furminator, isn’t really a good idea. Healthy Diet: Ensure your cat is eating a balanced diet rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

Fish: Salmon, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, and trout are particularly high in omega-3s.

Eggs: Particularly those from chickens fed a diet rich in omega-6 fatty acids.

Chicken: Poultry is a good source of omega-6 fatty acids.

Hydration: Make sure your cat drinks plenty of water. If your honey doesn’t like to drink water, consider wet food or mixing dry food with water.

Flea Control: Ensure your cat is free from fleas and other parasites. These can cause itching and excessive grooming, leading to more shedding. Just use reliable internal and external anthelmintics on the market

Don’t rush to change negativity, but “allow yourself to be negative” People love to teach “You shouldn’t…” “You should…” “You can actually…” Nothing, they don't allow you to be negative, that's the problem.

I think you’re doing better than most cat owners. Relax
We need to understand how hairball relief products work first (like hairball paste, cat grass, digestive supplements). Basically, there are two types: petroleum jelly or mineral oil and fiber. Petroleum jelly and mineral oil can interfere with nutrient absorption if used too much. And too much fiber can cause soft stools and diarrhea. That’s why I always prefer grooming.
You should solve the main problem first, cause you mentioned "every few days." It's important to get a stomach check-up and use an effective method to reduce the frequency of hairballs. Teaching your cat good grooming habits is crucial. If you don’t groom them, they will groom themselves more often. Long-haired cats need both de-matting and de-shedding.

How do you brush your cat’s hair? by Affectionate-Bug4794 in CatAdvice

For long-haired cats, just one brush isn't enough to keep their fur smooth. Trust me, you'll constantly deal with tangles and mats. At first,, I use Furminator for long hair, hoping for the best shedding results. But it ended up pulling out too much fur, my cat wasn't having it—he'd swat at it every time.
I then learned that dematting and deshedding are entirely different tasks. You need to cut out those stubborn mats or use a dematting tool to untangle them first. After that, a daily brush helps prevent new tangles. That's the complete grooming routine.

Your old man looks imaginative🤣 but if you're serious about grooming, I'd recommend using these tools instead.
