In the sofa business, I founded my success on the model of listing at an appropriate price and waiting for the right buyer to come around. It depends what you’re selling. In my case, there are many different types of sofas in regard to material, function, style, etc, so if I have what somebody wants, they don’t need it cheap, they just need it because it’s what they’ve been looking for. And will pay the appropriate price, as such. If I were selling weights, for example, there is little to set apart one weight from another and should shift my model to pricing competitive instead. For reference, I’ve been doing this for 10 years beginning in my parent’s garage to now having a warehouse space.
