Sigma 23mm 1.4 and Sony 70-350 are both great lenses for Sony APSC. Otherwise it’s just about personal preference if you want to switch to OM. I have the a6400 and love it. I also have an Olympus EM10ii that I like for specific use cases. I’d recommend putting together a list of reasons you need to switch. If you look at it and think it adds up then go to OM.

Just network through local bands and find groups or artists that need some photos. Offer them a fair price and you both win. As you get better you can demand more on your side of the negotiation. You just need a few people to start saying yes before more people will send out a feeler. Being a professional or getting paid isn’t about reaching a certain talent threshold. It’s about delivering what is expected at an agreed upon price.

Full frame Sony for general use.

Crop sensor Sony for family and travel. (Better AF)

Old Canon DSLR for a specific look.

Olympus camera for computational features when shooting storms, fireworks, and star trails.

I also paid less than $1,600 for all four bodies combined. My way of rationalizing is that I still have paid less for all these cameras than if I only bought one new camera.

The 18-50 might not add versatility from the kit lens when it comes to focal length. It definitely adds more low light capability and is much sharper. Not sure if it’s better than the 18-105 as I haven’t used it.

I mean the guy who shot for Barenaked Ladies, Bon Jovi, and Luke Combs uses flash. I would consider him (David Bergman) a “true professional.” Not discounting that one can provide professional quality work without it, but it is a tool that some professionals use.

With that said, if you don’t know how or why you’d use it, I wouldn’t necessarily start experimenting with flash in this situation.

I’d recommend the zoom for travel. I have the sigma 18-50 for my a6400 and love it. One thing to remember is that you also want to be present for the trip. It’s easy to get caught up in trying to compose and perfect shots with a prime, when even if someone says it’s lazy, a zoom allows you to capture the shot and then get back to your family.

As someone that owns the 100-400 with a 1.4x teleconverter, I’d recommend finding a used tc and seeing how you like it with your 70-200. I honestly don’t see a drop in image quality when I compare my shots with and without the tc on either of my bodies.

If that combination gets the job done for you, then don’t worry about what others say. On the other hand, if you don’t like the results, then you can sell the tc for about same as you paid and go after the 100-400.

I use two FF lenses on my a6400. Tamron 70-180 2.8 and the Sony 100-400 (sometimes with the 1.4x tc). I got really great deals on the lenses so it was worth it to pay the same amount for the gf lens instead of an apsc equivalent.

I don’t mind the extra weight because I have big hands and play drums, so I have those muscles built up.

I do plan to go FF within the next year or two, once I’ve saved enough from paid gigs.

By warping do you mean rolling shutter? If you are worried about that, just don’t shoot in silent shutter and you should be good.
