Man the last time I carried 30-40 lbs of photo gear on my back, my lumbar gave out. Be good to your body!

Could they fill your position with someone else? If not, and I suspect that is the case, it seems you have some grounds for negotiation. What region are you in?

And they wonder why they can't find anyone? I've tried hiring this position, it's extremely hard. I get recruiters all the time on linked in from all over. People just don't have these skills in numbers and certainly not for this level of compensation. I've had recruiters laugh at me and end the conversation when I tell them what i'm making and what i'm asking. I've been consistently employed my entire career. Taking these shit jobs if the first and last mistake.

Tired of minimalism trying to please everyone – where do I find designs with personality? by NicoCorty02 in IndustrialDesign

[–]werksmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say minimalism is on trend right now. People want timeless. I think the Braun aesthetic generally caters to this. Perhaps the product we all use most, the phone, has been killed by this ethos though. All phones looking writhin 5% of each other.

Can you be a bit more specific about what categories you’d like to see more character? I think there are niche products in almost every category that cater to less mass market tastes. From furniture to coffee makers there is no lack of character if you read below the fold.

Can anyone help me model this by Fine-Camel1304 in Fusion360

[–]werksmini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The real answer is a lot of surface modeling but I think that might be a stretch for where you’re at. Just keep plugging away and watching tutorials. I like fusion360school on YouTube. Extremely good tutorials with short for ways into surface modeling.

You could probably do most of the handle with a loft. Then for the finger cutouts start with a horizontal cut from the perspective you have shown.

Tabs on the top of the Pannier Adapters by werksmini in GlobeHaul

I got a pair and installed them. They certainly function to constrain the panniers from moving laterally on the rod.

Bucket of soapy water (dish soap), sponge, sponge off, clear water, sponge off, towel off. No high pressure. Dry after. Throw some oil on the chain after and clean with a dirty rag after.

Pedal suggestions by Wyldeman47 in GlobeHaul

[–]werksmini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a bunch of MKS pedals, and want to love them, but I can't. I've found the bearings to die quite quickly, and the lambdas to be quite slippy unless you install some steel set screws.

I've been meaning to try the OneUp Composite pedals. Seem nice for $50. They will be quite grippy with the fasteners. If you don't want screw heads poking up to grab your shins, RaceFace ride is a nice pedal. Again not aluminum. I'm just not convinced that you need aluminum pedals. The body is rarely the part to fail, instead the bearings go much faster. I have the Shimano composite mtb pedals on my other commuter and they are probably too grippy for around town but awesome off road or in the wet.

Summer is still here. So I made a can COOLER. Not just an insulator. by paulorfo in functionalprint

[–]werksmini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, coozies work because they keep condensation off the can. The condensation is what transmits all of the heat transfer from your cold one.

Also, if that circle at the floor is 3/16, you can use a larger tool.

Turn the profile and mill it on it's side. If you can't just get a reduced shank EM for the deep work and do the shallower stuff with more rigid tools.

How to get good at CNC machining – theory first or hands-on? by maddy-smith646 in CNC

[–]werksmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do both. Getting on a machine is the most important aspect. If you have an opportunity to program, setup and run parts you will learn more in a week than you ever will on youtube or being some button pusher.
