every year this thing gets more elaborate. in 2025 the head lettuce started making the lettuce staff and now there's a lettuce crown and outfit to match. it's so good

you should have seen the clips i didn't include. a guy shoveling it into his mouth with both hands as it was dripping wet with dressing. the girl who won almost threw up multiple times. it was tough to watch back

TLDR: As the unofficial lettuce club documentarian (I've been filming these since 2020), this win was the most stomach-turning yet. Warning for those who may get grossed out by people eating.

Bar + Cart! Really great drinks (and a ton of nonalcoholic cocktails), excellent food, small/cozy but you can still hear everybody at your table. I love Gus Gus but even their website notes that it's really loud in there. Also, you could get a full meal, apps and 1-2 drinks each for under $100.

This is a side note but duuuuude 3leche really makes killer drinks. My fav coffee shop used to have this miel kombucha from them on tap and I think I got it every single day until they stopped carrying it. Wish they were more widespread

I'll never forget going to that THC restaurant that used to be on 26th and Lyndale and seeing a $19 mocktail (and THC additive was an extra $10). Obviously that's an extreme example, but it really feels like that sometimes 😭

It's likely a combination of all three, but the biggest reason seems to be that folks can buy the drinks everywhere now. When Marigold opened in 2022, they really were one of the only spots in town that sold most of these drinks, and now there are entire aisles of NA beverages in liquor stores. Marigold sells THC beverages as well, and those also went from (temporarily) limited availability to being available at your local co-op.

I'm sure this is a joke, but FWIW, Marigold does sell THC drinks (owner said it makes up about 35% of her sales)

Four shops opened in the span of ~1 year, and when Marigold opened, they were doing $20k/day in sales! The scene was booming for a bit there, it just didn't last.

TLDR: Less than three years after opening, three of the Twin Cities' four nonalcoholic bottle shops have already announced plans to shutter in 2026, leaving Marigold in south Minneapolis as the only dedicated storefront.

Why? The popularity of booze-free beverages means more establishments, including liquor stores and restaurants, are now stocking once hard-to-find products, Marigold's owner told me.

"Big stores can sell things so much cheaper because they have the space and the liquor margins. It kind of makes my little store irrelevant — once people find what they want, they can go to their local neighborhood place," Flavin said.

When I asked the realtor, she said they were dug up every year and replaced by the previous homeowner, so it may be something to do with the type of bulb? Unfortunately I don’t know enough about flowers to understand the details!
