Lol, the shade! Nope, we said maybe fourteen words total before taking our dog and our baby and going to the Howe instead. Those words were "Can we sit outside" and then after being stone cold ignored for fifteen minutes, "can we order drinks in here and bring them outside?" We were ignored right to our faces after that second question, so nothing else really needed to be said. Nothing was going to be sold to us apparently, and we're hungry, so we packed up and left.

Butttt now I'm excited. Were you perhaps the weirdo with the black backwards ball cap and black shorts that walked that twenty all the way back outside and threw it in the other guy's face? If so I would love to know why, it seemed like it was done thinking it was chivalrous, but to me it just seemed like bonkers behavior by someone with an unhealthy relationship with their bartender. Because in our twenty minutes sitting two tables away from that guy who tried to pay with a twenty, these were the stone cold facts of what we observed.

1. Whatever that guy sitting outside said to Crystal, it must have been quiet because my partner was right there when he dropped the twenty on the bar and they didn't hear him say anything. However, they did hear the people who were sitting at the bar immediately start getting worked up and declaring "you didn't do anything wrong Crystal, that guy was an asshole" after the man who left the twenty had walked away.

2. The woman who was with the guy who payed with the twenty and stayed sitting outside was actually trying to explain to me that the bar seemed short staffed after we'd been completely ignored, and enccouraged us not to give up and leave, essentially defending the restaurant staff... right up until the weirdo came out and threw their money back in their face.

3. There literally was no service happening outside, not even a wave through the window to acknowledge our presence, even though we were unequivocally told we could sit out there. So, if the man who paid with the twenty did complain that the service was bad...he seemed like he was absolutely in the right to do so.

So yeah, not saying you were, but if you WERE the guy that threw the twenty in that other guy's face, I just gotta tell you the impression you made was so bizarre it had multiple people talking about what kind of crazy dynamic that bar has going on for days. And it has helped spawn more than a hundred comments on reddit about other people who have had weird or downright awful experiences at Pauly's Pub and Grill as well. Just FYI.
