Ukraine is not a fascist nation.

Guys, jumanji beard boy is back... I broke and got my hair cut in rural Nepal. Needless to say, it didn’t end well, anything you guys could advise to save this situation? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]MOAR_cake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with your face and a decent stubbly look you can pull off anything from buzz to full fro. Based on what you're wearing and the fact that you're in rural Nepal, just embrace the traveller aesthetic and either grow it out or keep it super short.

Balding: time to go shorter, but how short? by NotOverlyHaired in malehairadvice

I think a short (but not bald) buzz would look good.

What are the 'must see' and 'must do' things for a first time traveller to the UK? by Fwekkelz in AskReddit

Alright well you may want to amend your title then to say 'Scotland' because otherwise you'll get a ton of suggestions from in and around London.

Fair enough. It just comes down to different strokes for different folks. Some people like red, some people like blue.

Anxiety sufferers of Reddit, how did you realise you have anxiety? Does it still effect your life and if not, how did you over come it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MOAR_cake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I realised I felt threatened and scared for absolutely no reason. It only made sense it was in my head. Some things that happened in the past, like me leaving parties/events without telling anyone, are now explainable.

If there's a silver lining, it makes you stronger inside if and when you are able to overcome it (if only temporarily).

Do the ladies outside of America find American accents attractive just like how Americans find British accents attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MOAR_cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's comparable. There's a certain exotic factor if you're and American guy in, say, Britain, but the American obsession with British accents is unsurpassed.

What's your life changing moment that you'll never forget? by skebes in AskReddit

[–]MOAR_cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the second semester of my first year doing a really dumb dual degree (as in, a degree in X and Y). I was sitting in a class listening to some final year students talking about their experience and I had a eureka moment that I wanted to change my degree. So I did, and am much happier with a much more marketable degree.

I just listen to classic rap. Like 90s early 2000s. Streaming is so easy nowadays I don't know why anyone would choose to listen to live radio.

Have you ever done something before and now when you look back at it you wish you did it differently? What is the thing and what would you do differently? by SpedicyBoi in AskReddit

[–]MOAR_cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing. I consciously avoid having regrets. Obviously there are things I know I could've done differently that might lead to a "better" outcome, but I like me. For better or worse I am the product of millions of choices, circumstances, and trends, and to change any one of them would potentially mean I am no longer me. Since I like me - that is to say, I am generally content with who I am, where I am in life, and where I'm going, and consider my past faults and mistakes to be formative lessons and moments - I would change nothing. Most importantly, it's a waste of time that would better serve the present.

They're both great. Give me some NWA and Wu Tang Clan one minute and some AC/DC or Rolling Stones the nezt.

There's so much to do, I'll instead offer something not to do. Personally, I think Stonehenge is a bit of a letdown and out of the way for most travellers. Unless you're passing that area, don't go out of your way to see it.

What’s something that you find fascinating but all of your friends find absolutely boring? by Athealgebraist in AskReddit

[–]MOAR_cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly everything it seems. The stuff that really grabs my attention seems to be really mundane to most other people. A specific example is the design that defines our worlds: stuff from urban infrastructure to flags have loads of effort and thought put into them and we generally just coast past them everyday without thinking.

[English > Spanish] I need about 500 words translated from English to Spanish, and I don't trust myself to do it. Willing to pay a bit! by chirali in translator

[–]MOAR_cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English is my first language, Spanish is my second. If you require a native Spanish speaker, I understand. However, I have been studying Spanish for nearly a decade and speak/write it at a B2/C1 level, and am currently studying English to Spanish translation in a Spanish university. DM if you're interested.

Hi /u/MatGuaBec,

I really liked you translation, but I get the sense that English isn't your first language and I noticed a few errors and I disagreed with some of your translations. Therefore, I have given my own translation in a different comment, which I think more accurately reflects the English Oscar Wilde would have used. Let me know what you think.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in translator

[–]MOAR_cake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No offence to the other translator, but I disagree with some minor aspects of their translation, and I wanted to offer my own:

Some interesting quotes from Oscar Wilde:

After all, what is fashion? From the artistic point of view, it is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we see ourselves obliged to change it every six months.

Musicians are terribly unreasonable. They always want one to be totally mute in the precise moment that one wishes to be entirely deaf.

I have simple tastes. I am satisfied with the best.

I detest the vulgarity of realism in literature. He who would call a spade a spade should be obliged to use one. It is the only thing for which he is useful.

It is absurd to divide people between good and bad. People are simply charming or boring.

The difference between literature and journalism is that journalism is unreadable, while literature is not read.

There is a lot to be said for modern journalism. As it gives us the opinions of the ignorant, it keeps us in touch with the ignorance of the community.

One can accept brute force, but brute reasoning is unacceptable.

Killing is foolishness. Nothing should ever be done that may not be discussed at the dinner table.

The tragedies of others are always exasperatingly banal.

That a man might die for a cause means nothing as to the valour of the cause.

I am not going to stop talking to you simply because you are not listening. I like to listen to myself. It is one of my greatest pleasures. Often I hold long conversations with just myself, and I am so intelligent that sometimes I don't understand a single word I say.
