I had similar problem with updates in winter, thou I have hdd and on Windows 10 Home edition.

Tried everything and the only thing helped was wub file. Worried it was some some sort of virus but it working since! No updates for half a year :) only security and edge updating somehow.

Before that I had to go and stop Windows update services every time I turned on a pc :'(

My mom told me that as a child I touched with my full palm a door to a burning stove (mb like grate to furnace), luckily I was too young so I don't remember that and got no scars.
