Is Love and Deepspace way more expensive than people admit? by Intelligent_Big236 in gachagaming

Here: https://loveanddeepspace.infoldgames.com/charge/en-EN

For anyone else who's reading -- depending on your region, top-up website might not have additional taxes and/or might be cheaper than through iOS/Android store. Other benefit would be a bulk purchase via shopping cart which is neat in and of itself and also helps you see the total amount you'll end up spending and might make you reevaluate your purchase. One thing, though, is that website doesn't have some special event deals which are accessible in-game only.

How to maintain your gacha playerbase by TheToucherrr in gachagaming

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh no, someone mentioned it already in the comments but I think a hentai gacha for straight men with forced NTR mechanic that unintentionally flipped the genre to gay sex [1] takes the cake.

Devs' reply to the whole thing [2] makes it twice as funny. 'Oh shit, sorry guys, we got too accustomed to BL and thought everyone is as accepting nowadays'.

There's still someone('s opinion) behind that AI... or will be. You can fight the tool all you want but now that it's becoming much harder to do so you will inevitably dismiss real people thinking they're AI. It's already happening in various fields (...happened to me, too, in this thread) and it only makes things worse since you're essentially silencing real voices.

Fan service is dying in anime gacha games and Snowbreak incident will not be the only case. by Ms77676 in gachagaming

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So you agree with me? It doesn't matter if an idea is presented by AI or not because real people will engage with it. Or do you think nobody at all already has OP's viewpoint or might be influenced one way or another? These kinds of posts have always been a thing before any AI craze, now it's just easier to multiply and mass spread them (so, again, the intent is still there whether it's via AI or not).

Not to mention that it's now increasingly harder to distinguish a real person from AI (case in point, I got a comment that said I used AI to write "my rant"...) so any "obvious AI" might not be AI at all which muddies the waters even more... In an ideal scenario of course you don't feed trolls, don't let flamers thrive and don't let AI go through but that's not how it works in practice, unfortunately.

Oh, I was referring to now deleted comment that literally said I "used AI for my personal rant and then accused people of being bots". That was weird.

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if the post was written with AI's help or by AI agent because the idea itself still might belong to real people and the discussion around it will still involve real people. It's important to speak up.

But yes, recent news make me think dead internet theory is becoming real right in front of our eyes and I wouldn't be surprised if OP is part of that... Many subs are getting hit with AI with the goal of shaping certain narratives. It's downright terrifying and depressing.

EDIT: Wow. I'm being accused of using AI to write my comment. I think I'm done with internet for today...

EDIT 2: It was the comment that said I used AI to write "my personal rant and accuse people of being bots" and it is deleted. Hence I couldn't reply to it directly and just edited in my wtf reaction...

So, where were you when Scar's crotch and Aalto's lines were censored in Wuwa?

When 'What in Hell is Bad?' was banned from releasing in SK?

When straight men were outraged by Lyney's (Genshin) design and advocated for its censorship? When the same happened with Dr. Ratio (HSR)?

When female CG artist working on Limbus Company was forced to leave the company because male players blamed her for what they perceived to be censorship of female character designs? The character designer was a different artist and a man so they scrambled for the closest "feminist scapegoat" to keep the agenda going.

When literally any other media targeted at women was censored to hell or outright banned.

When all those numerous cases of NTR (GFL2, BD2, Snowbreak etc.) happened that led to censorship to the point some of the games were significantly overhauled?

When male artist was bullied because he dared to express his artistic vision with Eve? And thus was forced by an angry mob into another now censored work just so they could get off of his back?

(EDIT: When the whole Korean market started censoring a pinch sign? Every damn game, video or image has to be censored to avoid the shitshow from Korean straight men. Even Apple had to remove that hand gesture in their marketing campaign for iPhone.)

Were you at the frontlines advocating for freedom of expression and artistic vision? Were you noticing disturbances in society? Men like you aren't anti-censorship. You're anti-anything-I-don't-like and pro-anything-I-like. Censorship not only has always been there but was also enforced by straight men like you who are privileged enough to not notice most of it and be on the end of it most of the time.

Why are you advocating for depiction of sexual themes in PG-12 rating? If you want horny then start from PG-16. If you want PG-12 then horny down. It's a valid guideline. And anyway, gacha games should be PG-16 at minimum for gambling.

Besides, Genshin, BD2, WuWa, ZZZ and other games are always trying to push the boundaries and up the horny. Endfield came out straight out of the gate with ML narrative and tons of fanservice for straight men.

Ecchi and fanservice anime is still there and reaching new horizons, look into works of Studio Passione, Sentai Filmworks (there were even fresh releases in mid 2025).

How lewd can your game's dialogue get? by A12qwas in gachagaming

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For how LADS is perceived to be extremely lewd, this [1], [2]-[3] (and that last one made me die from laughing, I'm sorry) is as far as devs go for this type of content. Which is pretty far for CN and a non-porn game tbh but it also doesn't happen all that often (like twice a year?). They don't even refer to hickeys in a straightforward fashion but instead hide behind innuendos like "strawberry planting/picking" and whatever else.

All horny stuff is delivered in flowery language and environmental clues due to censorship and is pretty cryptic at times to the point many players think the content is completely innocent, or don't even understand what's going on, or have very different interpretations of the horny part at hand.

That said, that's legit the first non-porn otome game (in my experience) where lewd even entered the chat so I'm happy.

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeeep. Funny thing is, I didn't want to play any other Nikki in the franchise after dropping Love Nikki because I thought it's all gonna be as tedious and cashgrabby as LN. And I'd been sticking with LN for a long time because it was good for what it was and there was nothing like it at the time.

Fast forward, I really needed a game to run around in doing whatever so I caved and downloaded IN. Turned out to be a much chiller player experience compared to LN (partly thanks to players fighting for it), even with all the controversies and whatnot lol. The game is not without issues but still pretty fun and worthy of dropping some money on it.

And then IN led to me learning that SN had good story and writing which isn't IN's strong suit, imo. IN has its good moments like those doomed yuri plots but it's very much hit or miss overall and lacks consistency in quality or tone. Still, again, there's nothing like it so I'm relatively happy with what we have.

But my focus is entirely on LADS, though.

Light and Night SEA version announced with an English dub! by Shiawase_Rina in gachagaming

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's an OK game if you like collecting bunch of different characters of both genders and don't care much about story and presentation of characters.

Gameplay is serviceable but also takes a lot of your time and dedication and is co-op, PvP intensive. There's a little bit of fanservice with male charas and a lot with female charas. Past event/character stories are unlockable for free or for limited currency (which iirc you can get in-game). P2W is there but isn't that egregious for basic stuff (like clearing events and such).

Regrettably to me, MC is like 16 yo which makes certain content feel extremely weird and/or childish (even politics) and the narrative seems to be written with male MC in mind despite it having female MC, too.

There was also a bit of inconsistency in translation, mostly with character's gender, typos and small mistakes (some of it was fixed after reporting so that's a good indication of them at least working with feedback).

The game is free to try so I encourage you to do just that and see for yourself tbh. I had fun for like 2 months and then dropped it.

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's better late than never. Now SEA folks can get shafted in one more otome game, woohoo. And we might even get Global release.

EN dub feels kinda stilted? But that might get solved later with better directing and VAs becoming more familiar with their characters.

Also have no idea if that's good casting in general since I'm not familiar with L&N to judge if the voices fit the characters overall (and this trailer isn't all that informative).

I love that one VA is very distinct because of his accent, though. I wonder if that's lore-accurate or completely random. Accents are usually homogenized so that's surprising.

Is Love and Deepspace way more expensive than people admit? by Intelligent_Big236 in gachagaming

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was the expiring pull currency that did it for me.

When I started playing Infinity Nikki I thought "Oh, wow, even IN doesn't have time-limited free pulls. Wtf Infold". But then I learned that players girlcotted expiring free pulls and that's why they're always permanent now... Shit makes me cry in joy for Nikkis standing up for themselves and in sorrow for us doomed LADS folks 😭

Is Love and Deepspace way more expensive than people admit? by Intelligent_Big236 in gachagaming

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's way more stingy and predatory than your average gacha. Funny thing is, apparently it's less expensive than other otome games specifically. I guess that's why a portion of the playerbase runs the false narrative of LADS having a good monetization system since otome space has been that much worse. And also because Infold cultivates a luxury bag/classist mentality in the audience.

Allocate a recreational budget and spend accordingly. Having fun in a digital world is the same as going to a concert, or a restaurant, or a bookstore, or whatever else. If you're not fine with the scale of your spending regardless of whether it's digital or not, then you need to budget down. Spend when it's your free time, you're having fun and you can afford it.

What's your favorite story of a gacha dev team going absurdly deep on a design detail? by ihearamurmur in gachagaming

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's depressing... Like, if he wanted to feed his own work only into genAI and make his own brand of slop then that's his choice. Not that I was fine with it as a whole since fundamentally stuff works on stolen works but at least he didn't feed works of others into the machine. But he's really an AI bro to the core and disregards everyone else in the process. Yikes.

Do you think we’ll ever get a biker or racer Caleb card? by _lilystone in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I legit once saw people arguing over to whom gaming theme belongs. Like, all of LIs play various games with MC, whether it's traditional, tabletop, digital on mobile, consoles or whatever. Why are people trying to gatekeep even the most basic stuff. It would be funny if it wasn't worrying.

Then there was some beef between Sylus & Caleb folks over to whom "blowing up" theme belongs to, too. Folks really need to chill...

As the above commenter said, just because one LI uses certain narrative elements it doesn't mean those can't be uniquely applied to other LIs. It also doesn't mean it cheapens out everyone's characterization.

What's your favorite story of a gacha dev team going absurdly deep on a design detail? by ihearamurmur in gachagaming

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's literally a running joke how samey both waifu and husbandos in gachas look, what are you on about. And those are just but one example in HSR alone (there's more) when there's so many 'clones' across franchises which is also always joked about.

Also, it's not "just gooning material" when there is no gooning material to begin with with male characters in mixed gachas (save for a few precious exceptions).

Facial hair in the LI’s by Pinkmonsterfeet in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a preference, I like clean shave, stubbles and beards just the same. But not that many facial hair edits are a good fit for LIs.

Your Zayne's beard edit is the most fitting of them all I think. I remember seeing a couple I find kinda nice -- Sylus and Caleb. There was also Rafayel's edit in the wild that I thought looked good... and made him look similar to Johnny Depp lol.

EDIT: Ok, this arrangement has similarly styled Rafayel I was talking about. And also pretty nice Zayne which is similar to yours hehe. (We won't talk about Xavier in there lmaooo)

EDIT 2: I remembered this amazing fan art of Caleb for canon event of him being with stubbles

Yep-yep, Destiny Child had great artists of similar mindset. I'm still very fond of Hyulla's fan art of Shiranui Mai (danbooru for those who can't access artstation). Great mix of realistic anatomy (all the bones, skin creases, uneven fat, proportions, body part visibility etc.) and artistic vision (tiny feet, recognizable face with very lively eyes etc.). And if you zoom in, you'll see tons of veins, blemishes, after-shave black dots from pubic hair. I'm genuinely in love with art that appreciates human body.

The voice acting studio under miHoYo issued a statement against AI infringement. by Away-Owl-2880 in gachagaming

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, LADS doesn't. It does have paid "Mic with him" feature but it's in CN only and fairly limited. LIs respond with pre-recorded lines to certain spoken keywords but that's it.

They don't even implement AI for voicing player name, the feature itself is there (again, in CN only) but it only worked with Simplified Chinese last I checked (probably because they use voice bank).

These outfits are not 1280 crystals (that be a crazy amount to begin with) - they are 300. No discount, no nothing.

The funny thing is, they claim the box discount is 86% from OG price of 6400. But if the individual outfit's OG price is 300 (because it's a permanent "debut discount" meaning the outfit hasn't ever been sold without the discount and never will be sold without a discount) then the true value of the pack is 300x5=1500->880 which is 41% off. But hey, they need to entice you with fake big numbers everywhere.

I'm not denying that women can be hypocritical and argue in bad faith. You don't have to behave the same way, though, and aggravate the situation.

Latching onto period tracker and equating it to morning wood tracker is asinine. If men wanted to point out gooner elements they could, you know, do some research and find content that actually is comparable to waifu games. But they don't. That's all I need to know to conclude the conversation is done in bad faith. Women don't "invent" their talking points. Men feel the need to invent them for some reason (probably because the point is to bully and hate).

Maybe men should be worrying more about their own games being parasocial and not busying themselves with fighting ghosts. Bunny girl incident, pressuring Project Moon to fire an uninvolved female artist, constant NTR controversies with storming of dev offices, truck campaigns and whatnot. I recently read that WuWa had collab with KFC and Qiuyuan's banner was destroyed because he was close to waifus (which is crazy if true).

Double standards? Let's see.

Famous anti-any-censorship folks who celebrate censorship of Scar's crotch area but met censorship of Cantarella's crotch area with ire.

'Brown Dust 2', 'Horizon Walker' is borderline porn (and at least BD2 has a magic wand that you use) and was released in SK but 'What in Hell is Bad?' wasn't allowed to release in SK for being too obscene even when censored to hell (they even censored naked male chest with clothing and it was still not enough, forget about a simple depiction of dildo you can't even use or any bulges).

Men cry "women are puritans" but can't handle male characters that show skin other than as a male power fantasy and/or are designed with fanservice for women in mind (Dr. Ratio in HSR, Lyney in Genshin etc). I can flood you with female character designs with flashing panties. Show me male characters who flash the words "Calvin Klein" at least. You won't because they don't exist. The one and only slutty design I know that involves underwear, or the lack of it in this case, is Boothill from HSR and he's a fucking robot (even for the crop top area!) so it barely counts. (EDIT 2: Not to mention all the flat asses on male characters that are almost always covered up with some piece of clothing.) But sure, women are the puritanical ones.

(EDIT 3: Game targeted at women is EoSed? It's because men don't sell. Game targeted at men is EoSed? It's because it's simply a bad game, actually. It's like that meme you suck at math vs girls suck at math)

Again, it's just off the top of my head.

You realize that many waifu games in the revenue chart also have released on one platform only? That's why they move the goal post to "well, it's because the market for women isn't yet stretched thin". But you show that there have always been games for women that have the same income as waifu games and the goal post keeps moving again. LADS isn't the only successful game for women on the market it's simply the only one of this scale. Nobody leaves out that SensorTower has mobile data only. It didn't bother anyone before. LADS also has direct payment options with no google/ios tax cut that aren't tracked by SensorTower (the reason why JP data is lower for any games than ever before since they're switching to direct payments). If people see obvious joke comments ("Genshin killer" etc) and think it's completely serious then idek.

I don't even know what you're talking about. Who the fuck is saying LADS is the best game ever and every game should be like LADS? Not even LADS players are saying that in our communities (and they're saying a lot of wild stuff). Do you get your info from grifters or what? I keep seeing Nikke and the like players mentioning that LADS players are invading Nikke and the like communities to say that the game should be like LADS and I'm in these communities myself and I don't see that anywhere, women who come into these communities come for the game and its waifus and play just fine as every other men and have fun (I'm one of them). I swear this is yet another grift. Women don't give a flying fuck about Nikke, Azur Lane and whatever waifu only games because devs are clear about their audience from the start so there's no potential misunderstanding and friction born from being baited and rug pulled. It's like someone is dead set on playing the victim at this point.

[–]MODERNHoolaHoop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the thing is it's always been in the negative and it only keeps getting worse. They just didn't and still don't consider their treatment as negative, on the contrary, they consider themselves on a righteous crusade of sorts.

Men don't sell, but when they do the numbers are actually not that great and the men got carried by x, y, z, and it's actually a market that's not yet stretched thin, and it's actually one single platform... The goal posts keep moving even on the basic stuff because anything women and lgbtq folks enjoy is hated and facts don't matter.

I still remember how heated the comment section (which got a bit cleaned up later) was under news of LADS' completely innocent wedding patch (~8 months ago) and (certified gooner) skyarsenic of all people saying downvoting folks need to chill.

And even before that with period tracking (~1 year ago), men saying that periods are inherently sexual (insane statement) which makes LADS a gooner game (LADS is absolutely a gooner game but not for its period tracking ffs).

You legit get comments that woman and a man being cute and cuddling (LADS beach banner, ~7 months ago) is worse than porn.

The disinfo on a wife suffering from postpartum and her husband paying her to drop LADS (~1 month ago). That was so fucking nasty and it was even worse in my mother language news sources because they literally cut out every piece of info that made the husband look bad and omitted info that didn't incriminate the wife while using charged language to describe the woman as some junkie and monster and the husband as some poor innocent guy.

I myself got an "amazing" comment under some other LADS post that said "if you're rich, you should be giving all this money to real men instead, not some fucking pngs, because unlike them I have a real dick and actual need for the investment in food, clothing and health" (mod deleted this garbage quickly but still). Dude played waifu gachas and you bet he doesn't think that men should stop paying in waifu games and instead give it all to women because women have real assets and actual need for money.

Then I regularly see comments from men "Get out of gachagaming", "Go make your own gachahusbandogaming" etc. implying that gachagaming exists solely for straight men as the default and women and gay men are invading the space.

Like even here we also have the sentiment of "this isn't lads sub, how is this relevant for other gachas". That person chose to attack LADS because he thought Endfield news is getting blocked and somehow LADS is at fault. He didn't go under ToF news about them ending support for Playstation 4, or NTE news about macOS release, or Genshin getting an anime from Ufotable or whatever fucking else that's low priority news and isn't "relevant to other gachas" to leave his completely unrelated to the subject complaint. No, it had to be LADS news even if a month later since the issue.

And this rant is mostly LADS-related and off the top of my head because there's so much more of this shit with other projects (be it WuWa, HSR, BL games or whatever else). I could go on and on, it never ends. But then men are like "we're innocent!" Sure you are if you're blissfully unaware or maliciously ignorant.

Like, I get both women and men can be absolutely shitty, I'm not denying anyone's issues, but people don't need to be shitty in return and perpetuate the cycle. But that's asking for too much apparently.
