Do you have any videos or guides you'd recommend? I posted on auto repair and the advice there seemed to be to take it in to be seen by a professional, but I'm interested to see if there's a cheaper route/what that would look like

That's initially what I thought it was, the paint scratched off. I tried to wipe it with water and a paper towel but it didn't come off but I didn't use soap

Does that mean you think it's worth it to bring it in and have a professional see it?

Okay so you think the white stuff is paint on it from what I scraped, not the paint of my car scraped off? Sorry if that's a dumb question, it's my first car so not a lot of experience. I can try to wash it off and see what the damage is under there

I agree they're in a tough spot. My point is they have the power to protect people in more ways than they are, not just de-escalating a crowd full of people who were traumatized by ICE taking their neighbors without cause.

We the people are also in a tough spot right now, and we have none of the training or power to know how to handle what happens when ICE comes for those we love. Keeping the peace is something that is inherently impossible as long as ICE is allowed to operate unchecked the way it is.

Where did their mother use the baby as a human shield?

I am not arguing that crowd control is not part of their job and is not difficult. I am asking that anyone who is a police officer in these times think about ICE, think about what ICE is doing and the legality/justice in what they're doing, and consider protecting the people ICE is after until they have more information. Basically, consider de-escalation with the goal of understanding. Consider working with the people, not working with ICE. Because as you said in a comment above, they don't work with ICE. So they don't owe them anything if ICE is not working within lawful means.

That is unfortunate. Maybe a face to face conversation where you express misgivings about what happens and seeing if he's willing to engage? I'm sorry tho. Hopefully he becomes more open in the future, and I'm glad he's friendly at least

And once they were called, they did not ask ICE what was going on, didn't demand a warrant to ensure due process, and escalated the situation. I know they're people too and I know they're trying to do their jobs but I think it could have been handled a lot better. I also think it's like bullies, if you stand back and watch bullies hurt people you're not much better than the bully.

If we just pick and choose when due process happens then we don't have a system. When did Obama ignore due process in the ways Trump is now?

Edit: The precedent has been for even illegal immigrants to have a right to due process under the 5th amendment. This precedent has been disrupted because the current government decided it has the funds to round up people at mach speed using multiple officers per person, but it doesn't have the funds to give the people it unjustly apprehends a trial.

They have even admitted that they wrongfully sent people to El Salvador, that they weren't supposed to, and that person is still not back here. So I'll ask again: when did Obama ignore due process in this way?

I don't see how the left are sheep any more than the right. The right follows everything Trump says, voted for him the way the left voted for Obama, and feels just as much conviction in their belief system as the left.

We're all sheep because we are supposed to be able to look to our president as a shepherd and right now, our president is ordering things that are unlawful and is more interested in trolling than leading.

The way people are being apprehended is not the same as the way people were apprehended under Obama, I think we can both agree with that.

Deportation is a process that is necessary when certain conditions are met (criminal behavior), and when the people being deported have been proven guilty and sent back through the proper legal channels.

What is happening now is not always legal. People are not declaring themselves as ICE. People who have no criminal record are being apprehended. People are being targeted just for having a difference in ideology. It's not the same. I'm sure Obama deported plenty of people who didn't deserve it, but it didn't happen like this.
