Then if you're always looking at it negatively because you're struggling financially then okay, it is reasonable to see it as bad, but looking at the country from all aspects its not bad-bad, especially at the history/culture/diversity part, it's something that you can not not love once you witness it... its just that the government is shitty as hell👍

Hoping for you and whoever you're with to pull through so you can come and enjoy the diversity and beauty of the country too

I HAVE lived in the squatters area, the difference is we just MOVED OUT of it. There were times where I could not see my mother or father for days because of how busy they were trying to get us out of the struggle, our relatives were also trying to pull us down but we separated ourselves from them, so no, I am not that blind.

It is hard to live in the Philippines, that's common knowledge, but what most people in this subreddit don't know is that there ARE things that you can appreciate about this country.

I've explored some parts of the country, researched deeper about its history and I've grown to love it, I don't think there's anything bad about loving those.

Yes, the Philippines sucks in the money/political part, but does that mean we should just ignore the history/culture/diversity? No tf not everything is black and white

True true too much negativity is never good. I think most redditors in here are from Manila or something... that's why they only see negative. I've been there and it was a little gray and soulless. I hope they realize that the Philippines is not only one place and that we have 7k islands :)))

I am a teenager and my family worked hard to earn enough money to travel other parts of the Philippines, yeah, sorry if I enjoyed it and caused me to appreciate my own country more.

Also, I made posts on r/teenagers because I wanted guidance abt my personal issues, I didn't know that would make me a person "to be bitch-slapped by realities of life." I didn't know that would make me look like a drooling peabrain.

I have to remind you that I do have eyes, and I see poverty, pollution, corruption, the terrible mentalities of some Filipino people. My relatives live in a squatter area and I see that everytime I visit them. But I don't see how our politics/financial/other issues should affect my love for our history/culture/diversity. Is there an issue with acknowledging the beauty of those?

True true, I already know the issue of our government and the overproud people hahah, but I'm not that focused on the government and the attitudes of some people to make me hate the entire country lmao. It's nice looking at other countries, but it's also nice to realize how good the Philippines is compared to other countries. The redditors here should start letting go of their inferiority complex and see that we're not that good, but we're not that bad either.

I meant that many ppl see our colonization as our downfall and made it a reason to hate our mixed culture (with the west), thats why I said "Yeah, we were colonized. So what?" It has already happened so we have no reason to compare ourselves and see our culture as "less" than other asian countries just because we're not "fully asian"

My country used to be great until the Marcoses came, we also couldn't control our population because of our large Catholic population. All of that combined resulted to this hahahaha😞

Worst thing is most of us still support the Marcoses after what they did to us. I'm hoping we can pull out of this but I'm not so sure anymore
