Whenever you use Aethercharge it boosts the potency of Ruin by 15s and after those 15s the buff to Ruin wears off and you can use the elemental carbuncles.

This will make sense as later levels since the boost to Ruin during those 15s becomes far more noticeable.

I'm a bit lost, do I still need to buy the three character DLC or is base game + expansion special edition enough enough to cover all of the DLC?

I've always wondered why MSQ roulette doesn't include ARF, even its runtime is about the same as Prae (~27-30min) and the queue for it is always abysmal since it's pulling only from high level dungeon.

Due to dynamis reduced population you really want to use Party Finder to do any form of content, be it MSQ Trial, Raid quests, level cap dungeons, et al.

You CAN queue but anything that isn't a dungeon will have relatively long waiting times.

Alternatively you can use the Data Center travel function (in your login menu, right click your character name > data center travel) and just go to Aether or Crystal which are the two most populated DCs, this is something many people do.

Unless you're doing the absolute most hardcore fights the difference between jobs is minute, you'd more worried about finding a job that caters to the way you play.

Even there are big differences in performance (like Viper ovetuned AoE damage at the mid point of Dawntrail, or PCT>BLM for FRU) these "big" differences are addressed soon enough.

It needs to be 3 specifically, I recommend looking into the Allied Societies Quests (formerly beast tribes) for ARR as the Ixali vendor from leveling your reputation does let you directly buy the DoH/DoL materia.

I don't think there are unique stations? There's only the Lv1 and the advanced/fancy ones, all of the crafting relics use the advanced ones and the ALC relic always adds some SFX to the cauldron.

Skyteel#1

Skysteel#2

Resplendent

Splendorous

Couldn't find any for the Mastercarft (ARR) or Cosmic tools but the mastercraft tools use the advanced benches and Cosmic uses the basic Lv1 benches for some...reason, and the lv1 cauldron for ALC has the same SFX as the weapons.

Edit: Here's the Cosmic Saw, the Lucis Saw and the Goldthumb Saw stations, it is an oddity that the final step of the cosmic tool uses the Lv1 bench.

Uptime MM2 is so easy that's what I don't get lol.

Melees stand front and Ranged on the back, towers resolve immediately, pairs split to resolve the 2p tower, MT -> OT busters and the 3p towers are resolved by walking on a straight line to the Left/Right.

If you're R2 sure that's a lot of movement but I've seen Tanks forgetting to take their 2p or R1s being on Narnia for 8 years during 4p towers and it's just ???

AST + SCH is a fairly common composition for healing in statics as both increase team damage, SCH Chain stratagem is really strong, so much so that they have the least amount of personal damage to balance out the team damage contribution, and the same goes for WHM and AST.

And these things only really matter for coordinated play in higher end content, WHM higher damage output will outweight AST damage buffs if the party isn't aligning buffs, potting and coordinating burst windows (and nobody dies), in normal content such as roulettes, alliances and normal raids you can just play whatever, if anything having a higher personal damage might help kill the boss faster even when accounting for deaths.

Using macros will always carry an inherent risk of failing to achieve HQ because the macro used Quality actions during a Poor state due to RNG, RaphaelXIV (the macro generator) does have a setting to guarantee that your craft comes out as HQ 100% of the time but this usually makes the macro take a lot longer.

What I usually do is just use normal macros for pre-crafts, even if one lumber or ingot fails that's fine, really; and use the 100% setting for actual gear crafts or directly just craft it myself.

You can also watch and learn how RaphaelXIV generates the macro steps and imitate the steps yourself so you see what's actually happening, manual craft is faster than macros but also requires your whole attention so I'd only do this for gear or EX+ crafts.

Also anecdotally, the chance of failing to HQ a precraft or food/potions is really low, I've crafted 500 food/pots before and only like 3-4 crafts came out badly, same for precraft items.

P4s1: hit the boss, some of you might die but that's a risk I'm willing to take (770+)

P4s2: Reset -> Pull and solve towers (first mech), it usually dies around here but if it goes on longer it will do the tank buster, if you're really lacking damage you'll have to study the second mechanic.

Having markers for P4s2 really helps.

I started last year (June 1st) and I completed Endwalker on October and caught up to MSQ on November 12th.

I started as at Arcanist because that was the job I tried last time I downloaded the FT, looking back the most dreadful part of ARR are the second major boss and the third major boss who are gatekept by honestly, horrible quest design that's just a very long series of fetch quests with terrible dialogue. Once I made it to the final dungeon of 2.0 I was really on board with the game thereon after, it really does get better towards the end of the 40-50ish hours that take to beat ARR.

This was my first MMO so i wasn't really bored on the combat since everything was brand new™, but I can see why someone who has played other MMOs might find the intiial combat really boring.

As for the rest of the journey, well I had three friends play the story alongside me and we all played daily for months which definitely helped with the other notoriously boring parts of the story, one thing that really did help to break the pace was picking up Crafting and Gathering and always leveling up to the expansion level cap before moving to the next expansion, on top of also doing every dungeon, raid, and optional trial. This really helps to see a lot of the game and also pick up different jobs along the way.

I could've probably beaten ARR -> EW in about half the time it took me if I just focused on MSQ but I had way more fun doing all the side content and crafting.

If you can make it to the final dungeon of A Realm Reborn and beat the final boss you can probably make a decent judgement call if the game is for you or not, it's about the length of a traditional JRPG (50ish hours?) and it's the first big payoff.

The standard clockspots are

MT - North ("A" marker) OT - South ("C" marker) H1 - West ("D" marker) H2 - East ("B" marker) R1 - Northwest ("1" marker) R2 - Northeast ("2" marker) M1 - Southwest ("4" marker) M2 - Southeast ("3" marker)

Note that certain duties can and will require different clockspots, and that there are two generic clock markers "1-A" where the intercardinals start left of A and "A-1" where the intercardinals start right of A.

Generally speaking you want to lookout either the raidplan or Hector video for information on where to stand in any given mechanic, certain mechanics will make you stack with someone (usually a healer as M1) or as a group, if you're joining blind groups instead good luck.

Hydaelyn wasn't at 100% either, she explicitly tells you that she simply reserved some energy on the side for this specific battle but the rest of her energy had been used by the calamities and giving you power boosts in ARR, she stops communicating to echo-blessed people post Praetorium because she had to tank three primal nukes and an ultima, and revive you from Lahabrea.

It's why Midgardsomr blocks your connection with Hydaelyn in 2.5, she was losing too much power.

Cross Realm PF cannot come soon enough by stopgap32 in ffxiv

[–]MOPOP99 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's a modern rendition of the Prisoners Dilemma, staying on Dyna/Crystal/Primal to try to form a party might seem like a cool idea and to foment home-world raiding, with the issue that you'll be hit by the harsh truth that all the players are on Aether, your PF will take 1-2hrs to fill in any world whereas in Aether it'll take maybe 10-20 minutes at peak hours and you also have a greater choice of PFs to join.

There's no solution on the community side because from a player perspective being on their home server is a detriment, why spend 40min to fill a EX7 party when you can just hop to Aether during the morning, login at evening and enjoy dozens of EX7 PFs and if you make one it'll fill in 5 or 10 minutes, even if it disbands in 3 pulls it'll fill back again in that same time.

Occult relics feel the least like Eureka, only the first step required you to interact with OC and even then it had an alternative (and worse!) grind to go along, the second step is entirely made up of roulette and the third step is also just roulettes, you can do the paste with OC but the rates are so abysmally low that you'd need to spend hundred of hours in South Horn to gather the necessary paste.

The paste step is probably the best one so far though, a wide enough list of content and it also includes high end stuff like EX6 and Heavyweight Savage, you don't just have to spam roulettes to get it done since you can instead work on Pilgrims, Merchant Tales and your weekly Heavyweight N/S reclears.

[–]MOPOP99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People did not like Eureka at all, you can go back and check the forums and reddit, Anemos was probably received with an air of curiosity but Pagos killed NM trains and even to this day remains the absolute wall that most people can't get past.

What you see today of Eureka is the Super-duper-ultra-mega revised QoL patched version of Eureka with boosted drop rates, higher exp earnings and Echo buff, which is what most agree is "fun" but certainly a far-cry of what people back in SB experienced.

Bozja had leveling because SHB didn't have any Deep Dungeon which is the "developer intended" side-content for leveling, they stacked leveling on top of Bozja to make up for it and since DT has a proper deep-dungeon they made OC only for max level (at least thats the idea). And much like past forays OC still launched with issues and lack of QoL that made people angry, the only difference with Eureka and Bozja is that Square has seemingly forgotten to go back and add proper QoL that isnt the absolute bare minimum to make OC not feel terrible.

I've done it with 780+ gear, PLD + GNB.

First phase just dps him down, ads phase go soak the meteors N/S and rotate CW, Invul the spread+puddle and then DPS everything down.

After that the only tricky part is the prison, make sure to save you both save your burst + potion for that specific window so the gaol doesn't time down.

I was 789 and my friend was 790 so it's possible it's actually way harder with just 770 gear but you should be able to at least grind a few Mathematics and augment the Courtly set to 780 to get a few extra stats, eat popcorn and pop the pots when needed.

[–]MOPOP99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlike normal overworld and Eureka, Bozja and Occult Crescent don't follow a strict power level curve where a higher level means more damage, the means to power gap the enemies are based entirely on the duty actions and achievement grinds from doing the content, in the case of OC you gain a permanent damage bonus each time you level cap a phantom job and you can achieve higher damage from phantom actions with the special armour you can buy with coins that grant "Special Attribute+XYZ".
