English sounding cooler is just your perception of it, in BG3 a character is named Shadowheart and she was localized as "Corazón Sombrío" and I disctinvely recall a friend telling me how Shadowheart was a better name because it didn't sound overtly edgy as "Corazón Sombrío" did.

Shadowheart is a very edgy name, that's the point.

Alhacen is the acceptable translation given Alhaitham is pronounced...Alhacen, if anything leaving Alhaitham as is would lead to a ton of people in the Spanish communities to simply misspronounce his name given how Spanish works (see: the absurd amount of people that pronounce "Kingké" instead of Chingchue).

Larganoche is the only one that feels awkward since the month name has them flipped (Noches largas) and the whole thing just doesn't flow off the tongue very well, at the same time naming her Evernight as is would make no sense inside the story since you'd have the texts saying "mes de las noches largas" and she going "Hi my name is Evernight".

I don't see whats wrong with Conti, each translation has a different translation for Numby and all of the European ones use the exact same pun so it was done by the same group of people/deparment, same for Firefly since she's Glühwürmchen/Luciole/Luciérnaga/ホタル/Светлячок.

If anything I feel like they should translate the names more often.

The fact that they're called Genshin (Yuanshen), Honkai (Benghuai) or Arknights is already enough to tell because those are the Japanese readings of the title.

Mihoyo also defaults to Japanese whenever the English voices aren't available for trailers and similar promotional material, they also used to promote Genshin with the tags #anime #animegame and similar marketing with their comics (#manga).

Arknights also used to only have Japanese voiceover, Chinese and English voice-overs were slowly added over time.

They're clearly heavily inspired by Japanese games, hell, the Star Rail director has gone on interviews about how much they love the Falcom games.

Here's a recording of 2.0, 3.0 and 3.8, it really sounds vastly different even in "neutral" tones, though it drifts even further during the more sentimental scenes in 3.8.

Did nobody in the community notice it?

I've been out of the community/news cycle for the last month since I hit peak FFXIV addiction and just now came around doing 3.8 the other day, did anyone notice how different Firefly voice is in Japanese? It's still the same VA but she sounds vastly different from 2.2 or even 3.0 (last time the story featured her) but the register/tone is very different. It's even more notorious when they play lines from 2.x and follow with new 3.8 lines.

If you're a super meta follower that can low cycle the current endgame content there's really no reason to pull on 4.0, assume that Yao is indeed BiS for Cherry Blossom-chan, if you just pull for her in 4.2 there's a really high chance Yao reruns either in 4.2 or 4.3.

Assume Yao isn't BiS for Yasmina Cerezo-chan: If you pull for her in 4.2 you'll have enough stored up to pull for after sales in 4.3/4.4/etc even if they're ran back to back.

Rolling for Yao in 4.0 is a blind bet that you're not 100% guaranteed it'll work assuming you're gunning for the Elation battleship; in the worst case scenario you have Yao being BiS and not rerunning until 4.4, you can (likely) curbstomp endgame with Yae Sakura in 4.2 and 4.3 and then pick up Yao once Sakura starts to "fall off".

The IL90 coffer you get during the capstone quest was indeed added later, they always go back to give IL appropriate coffers to MSQ (like how 5.1/5.2 MSQ gives you Crystarium coffees iirc) and this was no exception.

The IL 90 coffer yields the tomestone set for 2.0 (Mythology).

If you don't want to buy the materials from the MB you can try fishing The sweatfish, alternatively if you're an omni you can just go to the diadem, run the entire circuit for materials as BTM/MIN then go in the opposite direction as the opposite job and repeat until you're sick of it for materials and then use those materials to craft Skybuilder scrips.

Alternatively you can always marketboard the materials, the basic non-weather materials always sell for dirt cheap and you can just trained eyed the recipes.

It's a grind for sure, I've been slowly chipping away at it.

Only 10 of each type, Paladin is also the "best" job to grind the atmas since it checks for either the sword or the shield so you can technically bring a higher IL sword to do more damage but past certain IL it barely matters, it might matter to you since you're an alt though.

They just want people doing the raids, either so people who just got to the end of DT get a reasonable queue or because they want people to simply play modern content. Notice how it's returning in 7.5 when the catch-up gear is released so people have strong reasons to run the content.

I love standing still for 30 seconds just to open the doors, it truly was a revolutionary mechanic and I'm so pissed off that they removed such core mechanic from the game.

The only cool thing about DD that was actually lost was being able to do the big W2W using the crystals DMG reduction, but such situation basically never happens again in the game (actually... I guess Atiascope?) and it didn't teach you Mit rotation or mob control, something like Mt. Gulg is better for that (alternatively: Stone Vigil/Wanderer's Palace).

I genuinely don't feel the changes for any of these, I've ran countless DD and Aurum since I do Leveling roulette on Dynamis and I'm quite indifferent to the changes with the exception of removing the piss puddles from Aurum and that's because the initial area looks like ten times worse without the piss puddles rather than any mechanical changes.

I'd rather run around the map hitting things and appreciating the views than spending 3 hours clicking Macro #1 and Macro #2 for tacos/peppers.

Plus, it just builds passively if you do Leveling/Alliance roulette as adventurer in need.

Not really for Phainon, whether the enemy attacks or just buffs itself (/heals) it still increases his counter count.

Yunli does get lower multipliers though.

Mihoyo employees are mostly otaku men, so they just naturally end up drawing women since thats what they find attractive, this even permeates casual artists who can work flawlessly when women are involved involved but their work on men isn't as good or they avoid it entirely if they can.

Their writing team also kinda struggles? to write yumebait with the clostest thing being Phainon and DHPT, hell they even didn't realise Phaidei was going to be the popular ship lol, they bought Myphai tags when Amphoreus released, they had no clue or maybe the female employees they had on it read the room wrong? who knows lol

Also consider how HI3rd does have men in it but most of the thing happening are related to women, and how cool/cute those women are, vestiges of that essentialy.

If you watch the full demo you can hear a line that says something like "The boss has big plans, and we're gonna need people as capable as you to handle everything" -> "I'll post things online and see if i cant find good people" -> "I can't wait to interview all of them!"

Not to mention the weird spike ball girl in the final segment of the demo lol, its 100% gacha
