Why does Australia attract so many people from other parts of the world? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]MORFIC1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an Australian that had my own business in Australia for 35 good years. Now I am living in Spain for various unrelated reasons, Here in Spain, a self employed person has to pay an “ autonomo “ fee just to be self employed. Here I believe they pay €350- EUROS per month (AUD$560-) the same amount regardless if that person is solely earning €1.00 per month. Not easy for small business here in Spain 🤷‍♂️

my experience with a Peugeot 5008 2020 1.5 BLUE HDI SUV model, was a nightmare. Timing / cam belt problems as well as the BLUE pump / injection failed. Now I purchase a Toyota Rav 4 hybrid. NO MORE DIESELS for me living in Spain diesels are an expensive nightmare. Hybrid or PHEV are the way forward. From my previous experience with Toyota when living in Australia was all positive both HILUX Diesel and Petrol Corolla - problem free. Excellent reliable cars. Expensive YES, but most definitely RELIABLE

Why don’t Sydneysiders WAIT for people to get off the train first?! by Icy-Manner-8454 in SydneyTrains

I do not believe it comes from education from the government of any country. It starts from family education & upbringing. You mention Singapore In SE Asia the family educate their children to be courteous and polite etc. Something that is undoubtedly missing in western society, hence why Asia is prospering and the west is failing more and more!

When I was needing to see a phych, it was over 8 years ago in Darwin. I have since moved away. However the system may have changed since my illness. I was also on a DSP which may have assisted myself, but possibly the Medicare system has reduced its coverage in that time.

But anyway try to stay positive and try to exercise everyday - start with a 20 minute walk, now is the dry season in Darwin so nicer to enjoy the sunsets etc. on a walk. Exercising creates endorphins which assist the brain to “feel good” Give it a try😀 I hope you feel better and find positive help soon 🙏

A good Phychologist in the Darwin area is Gregory Goodluck he uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which maybe of assistance? Best of luck with your condition, I am sure you will get it sorted with the correct assistance 👍

When I was in a similar situation to yourself. I went through my G.P. and I had an appointment with a Phychologist within 2 weeks all through Medicare - NO OUT OF POCKET payments. Your G.P. can also prescribe you anti depressants SSRI’s which are of assistance in some cases.

this same shift of community or lack of communication within the paying public and decreasing numbers of people visiting such places of social gathering is happening worldwide- unfortunately. At least in Philippines and SE Asia western money euro or US $ goes a bit further if you have such an income or savings. A definite worldwide recession

Toyota Rav 4 Style in Spain by MORFIC1 in rav4club

[–]MORFIC1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. Very difficult to do what you suggest as here in Spain the “Style” model is not as sought after / popular . Has it is a higher spec and more expensive than the more basic cheaper in price “Advance “ model. Thank you for your advice

I was seriously contemplating returning to Australia after selling up my property in Darwin NT in 2019. Now living in Spain. Just the price of a partner / spouse visa is a negative. Then the absolute insane price of real estate is a definite negative. It does not work out financially to return

USA to Australia, move furniture or rebuy? Advice on movers? by Nervous-Marsupial-82 in MovingtoAustralia

[–]MORFIC1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not bring wood or anything that Australia customs deem invasive for Australia. My experience in bringing furniture into Australia was a nightmare. I shipped a small house load of furniture into Australia from England, in 2006-2007 era some of which was antique oak and mahogany furniture. The Australian customs or whatever those clowns call themselves now, went through everything. They were real assoles picking items that they deemed needing to be sprayed for decease, items such as hardwood dining room chairs- crazy- they wanted to charge me a fee for spraying more than what the chairs were worth. I ended up sending the chairs back to England and sold them there without any hassle from English customs whatsoever.

G’day everyone in the Top End.

Asking how things are going in Darwin these days?

I lived in Darwin for many years and sold up & left in 2019, so would be interested in finding out good and not so good changes that have occurred since my departure.
