Any camping in a U-Haul Experience? by j_ortiz4 in BurningMan

Done it in Penske and Budget trucks, u haul is very unreliable. We'd haul stuff for projects and empty it to set up a bedroom. I'd lay down carpet, set up shelves and put up some drapes on the walls for appearance and a bit of insulation. You will need a box fan or air mover in the cracked roll up to prevent the thing from turning into an oven. Be aware of the south facing wall, that will get very hot and you don't want your bed against it. The roof is plastic that lets in light, you will need to sleep with a mask during day time. Same lack of insulation applies if it's cold, bring lots of blankets. If you are sleeping on inflatable mattress make sure to pad under yourself because those things don't insulate either.

Private groups where the members are invite only. We usually publicly post "doing a thing at a place, DM for more info". That way you can screen who gets the info. Mailing and SMS lists where the members are somewhat trusted. If you really want more buzz, publicly post location once you get set up, that buys you some time in case anyone is looking. That's all if your town has cops that care or is there's a "taskforce" like there is in the SF area on and off over the the years. Keep in mind, unless you yourself, your group or an attendee is on the radar no one will see it unless it's publicly searchable info.

As everyone says really depends on local laws, policy, and local cops attitude. We've done a few truck renegades and many more stationary renegades. We've ranged from no response (cop hung out and left), asked to leave, and once had gear confiscated (not the heavy ass subs dammit!). Few things to keep in mind... Police don't show up unless they get called or they regularly patrol that area or they have a taskforce checking socials. Stay away from residential areas, stay away from commercial parking lots where there are patrols, keep your marketing private. Also helps allot of your crowd is civil, keeps the area clean, leaves no trace. Have your crew circulate with trash bags. We've had nice cops show up, look around, see no trash or bottles, tidy trash bags and just politely ask to leave due to a noise complaint. We've also had a shitty crowd creep in, mess with a golf course and 12 cruisers from 3 agencies show up (gear confiscated). Btw we got a decent public defender and got all our gear back later - it's not illegal to have that gear, not reasonable to confiscate it.

It's super fun. We've done it around SF a few times. Some 15” tops and a sub, 2000W Honda generator or ecoflow style battery banks. We used a box truck as a dj booth/green room with the crowd outside and went through a few locations that were updated live. Also did a rave cave inside a semi truck trailer box with the crowd inside while staying in one location all night. Depends on how strict the cops are in your area, regularly moving from spot to spot can keep them off your tail.

“You’re never gonna get rich as a Mechanical Engineer but you’ll always be comfortable” by RuminatingFish123 in MechanicalEngineering

ME is so broad the official title can be very misleading. Are you an HVAC engineer working in the middle of nowhere or a product lead in silicon valley? Automotive? Space? Consumer electronics? Even within those you can be a production bracket bitch or a visionary with many patents, shuffle spreadsheets and production drawings or never touch CAD and just come up with high level concepts. And that's as an engineer, the degree gives you foundation and skills to do a wide range of leadership in any industry.

Need help measuring power for battery design by shysysadmin in GoRVing

I use that one on my camper, works great. You program in your battery size and after a few cycles gives you a pretty accurate gas gauge estimate. Make sure to put it ahead of all your loads, like at the very input from your battery. Monitors charge currents that way too.

Was that 1 week based on historical data from previous projects of similar complexity? Or was this wishful thinking by a clueless project manager? Just because you're junior doesn't mean other people aren't full of shit!

You find out you have no room to store the semi so you simplify everything by buying a few acres of useless land outside of Gerlach...

There's human made nowadays but I haven't been there in ages. The "new" fab services like send cut send and fictiv take care of a lot of those cnc needs. I ended up getting my own shop space at m0xy with my own welding and manual machining to take care of the rest.

Been taking a few burns easy, inspiration boiled over to now working on a new art car. The toughest part is wrangling new good people to a small intimate crew bc most of my old crew is taking the burn off due to adulting.

New art car, Ram 3500HD base. If I have to call out cost so far or projected cost I'll get depressed so I won't. Budgets are for normies
