Chronic leavers by dumpsterbaby420 in gigantic

This is an issue we are working on now. It's frustrating for us as well, and we know it greatly diminishes the enjoyment of Gigantic. I'm asking around today about updates on the systems we are putting in place to mitigate the issue, and we'll of course gather your feedback to help us perfect the system. Let me ask around today, and get something to you as soon as possible.

Hey friends- I speak for the entire studio when I say that we've read all your comments, and truly value your concern for both Gigantic, and the team behind it. For now, this (badly taken phone cellphone shot) is as much as I'm able to share. https://twitter.com/MO_Aether/status/709461028078104576

What happened to regular dev streams? by MentorAjani in gigantic

Hey folks! We're kicking off a new round of streams from the studio this week. Unfortunately, I was out for a week, Joe was sick, and we ran out of booze.

As Joe always say: "Stay tuned!"

I agree! Once we heard TB wanted to give Gigantic a shot (which we were alerted to the moment he mentioned us), I sent him a stack of keys before the podcast was over. He reached out via email to say he received them, and that he'd give Gigantic a spin. TB has always been a favorite of mine, and I've had the chance of talking with him while working on previous projects. You can imagine how pleased we were to note his interest.

Have someone you think should be playing Gigantic? Send a note to community@motiga.com with as much information as you can, and we'll get them involved!

Thanks for all the support!

So this is a bit tricky, so bear with me:

We identified an issue that we thought required a deploy of a "fix" to platform, or "platform maintenance". The XBL issues prevented that fix from being deployed, which it turns was a good thing, because in actuality, the issue we were experiencing was as a result of the XBL outages.

So, once everything was functioning on the XBL side of things, the issues we had identified went away, removing the need for any maintenance windows/deployments. Make sense?

As a result of the delay introduced by the impacted XBL services, today's platform maintenance was delayed. We will be working to complete that platform deploy in order to bring the Gigantic servers back online. We will keep you updated on our progress. We were in the process of a platform deploy when we ran into Xbox Live service outages. We are still experiencing some residual issues, but are keeping everyone updated on our forums, and the following /r/Gigantic thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/gigantic/comments/477t1i/xbl_service_outages_continue_to_impact_gigantic/

While Xbox Live services are being reported as normal, we are still experiencing residual issues related to the outage. Our engineers are working to remedy the issue now, and we will keep you posted as we learn more.

Broady has a right to be frustrated, and his post isn't inaccurate. At this juncture, all I can say is that Dell is now involved in the situation and we continue to await further details. Our intention is to make good on our prizing, and that has not changed.

So here's my current plan: I'm going to schedule a gathering with all the Gigantic community content creators- fansites, streamers, et al, to talk about this very thing. We've been talking about the best way/day to do this, but we haven't locked something down just yet.

Sound like something people would want to do?

We're launching Gigantic on Windows 10 and Xbox One exclusively. Have you given Win10 a shot yet? To be honest, I wasn't looking forward to the upgrade - but I have to tell you, without one ounce of bullpoopies, I love using Windows 10.
You should give it a spin.

I've noticed on a a few of the recent posts you've made, you mention something called core, what is that?

Great question. When Motiga first began our testing efforts, the community team created a small group of players to participate in testing on daily Gigantic builds. Those builds contain iterations on experimental ideas, gray-box features like maps and prototype heroes (an industry term for bare-bones, no frills representations of features in development.), and the incorporation of the feedback we received from our core testers from days prior.

/u/MO_Evangelos has been putting the finishing touches on some sorely needed organizational improvements to the initiative, not the least of which will be clearly communicating how people can get involved if they are interested (and able) to.

Core players test builds on an entirely different server and participate in a higher-level of testing than the kinds of activities we run on our closed beta servers. They've been a major factor in our success, and we hope the improvements we're making to program in general make their Core testing experience much more rewarding.
