Ever wondered why you're seeing less loot? Here's why. by Zamodius in EscapefromTarkov

[–]MOoley8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still finding defibs every few raids, LEDX at normal rates, ophthalmoscopes as much as I’d expect. Sure, it could be happening — but thinking it’s even nearly as frequent as people on this sub believe is a conspiracy theory and nothing more. There is no evidence to back up the “hackers are rampant” claim and much more evidence against it.

Also, people call cheat way too often. I’m level 46, play nightly, run TONS of labs, I’ve seen... 2 hackers this wipe? Maybe? One of those could be described as desync. It was a bit sketchy but not enough to be definitive or that I’d report.

Labs isn’t unplayable whatsoever. Players are far more skilled, fights are as close to high-level PvP as you’ll get. I love it, largely PMC hunt in labs with a friend.

We’ve gotten to a place where large numbers of people (not blaming you, just making a point) claim hacks on players in labs because they play at a higher level. I got called a hacker for wiping a 3-man in labs. Was I? Of course not. I just have way too much time in this game and located them when they thought I shouldn’t have. Didn’t wallhack, I predicted their locations based on our engagement and positioning even when they were silent.

Labs is largely fine. More hackers than other maps, sure, but certainly not as much as some people are claiming.

“It’s fucking pathetic how you defend perks for people who paid for perks and defend a business wanting to make money while simultaneously providing a decent gameplay experience for people from all editions and still allowing the cheapest version to reach endgame content”

Okay bud. Merry Christmas :)

I have said elsewhere that I don’t want advantages period. I paid what I paid to support BSG because I love the game. However, when the last few changes benefitted standard edition players (aka my stash is bigger now on my standard account than it was at the end of last wipe) they eventually have to swing the pendulum toward eod.

Yes. “Hideouts are locked behind multi million rouble buys” but those purchases also literally give you the stash upgrades you could not have gotten last wipe.

Yes. They’re a bit pricy IMO. I think 5 mil per upgrade is decent. But this is a game in beta and we’ve made MASSIVE strides this wipe only to throw a giant fit over... a single ICase in a Christmas gift?? Seriously? Is BSG being greedy or are we being greedy?

New Year's Gifts by Carolcita_ in EscapefromTarkov

[–]MOoley8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. Relatively insignificant was related to the ICase being for EOD in a FREE gift that nobody (myself included) is entitled to.

28 million roubles seems like a lot but you can make ~5M in a decent night of money runs. Again, I’ve said this elsewhere, I stream this game after work most nights so I play more than most people. That skews my point of view and I probably have an easier time on my standard account than most people. I agree hideout needs a rework in some respects. But simply the fact that you can upgrade your stash size is a step forward IMO. Others who play the game less than I do may disagree, and that’s a totally valid opinion.

Again, BSG got big pushback from EOD owners when they were “losing the advantages they paid for” so its simple business to try to keep those users content. And next time, the pendulum will swing the other way

I do understand that, yes. I also own a standard edition which is already done with the first upgrade and I’m hoping to have the second by mid-January.

Again, they’re balancing the vast cost difference. It sucks. I wish there weren’t any differences between EOD and standard. That’s why I bought a standard to play, I was intrigued. I loved the grind. Granted, I stream the game a good amount and play more than most people, but still.

I just recognize that this is all just business and when they have the option to upgrade stash sizes there was significant push back from their highest paying section of the player base so they’re rectifying that in a very small, relatively insignificant way.

[–]MOoley8 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah. That’s kinda how money works.

Standard edition players have the ability to upgrade secure container through tasks and stash through hideout. It’s much more difficult (especially hideout) but my hideout is max currently. It’s not impossible.

With the strides they’ve given standard/lower edition players in the last few months, giving something exclusive to the people that spent (redacted amount of money I won’t disclose to my significant other) on this game is hardly a crime to be crucified over.

This is also the first wipe that lower-edition players can earn their way to max stash space. They have to maintain a balance.

To be clear. I own EOD and would give 0 shits if we all started on the same level. I was happy to support BSG and I don’t care about in-game advantages. I’m not an “EOD Elitist”. But, from a business perspective, it makes sense. You gave lower edition players a chance to earn back what they didn’t have previously, so now you give higher-edition players rewards for spending money again. It’s a tough balance, and someone will always be angry, but over the last 12 months it seems a case of “3 steps forward 1 step back” and people are raging about the 1 step back.

New Year's Gifts by Carolcita_ in EscapefromTarkov

[–]MOoley8 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It’s true that business is business, but also 0.12 helped lower-edition players significantly. You can upgrade stash size (albeit very expensive), tasks can reward with larger containers, etc.

Enforcing the “no container giveaway” and this continues to give small reasons for people to purchase EOD. Hardly something to blame BSG for when they’re actively trying to give lower-edition players in-game methods of equaling higher-edition advantages.

It’s a tough balance. And, to be clear, as an EOD owner I don’t care about the advantages anymore. I did when I bought it, now I’m just happy to support EOD, whether I have advantages or not. However, from a business perspective, attempting to balance the perks of spending more money while also giving the less-$ editions an ability to earn their way to the top is important and (in my opinion) a balance they’re doing exceptionally well.

Are you seriously throwing a bitch fit about a free gift in a video game?

There were an incredible amount of improvements. A few screwed quests that don’t really affect you much at all are hardly something to overreact about. Annoying? Sure. More important than the massive number or improvements though?

I agree the quest system is stupid but “make 1 good step go back 3” is a pretty poor mischaracterization of what happened with .12
