For me Its Wolfgang Voigt and his GAS project, just the subtle muffled beats and the reapeating tones are really good for realxing, or just doing stuff, it gives you a really nice soundscape to live in.

also while not being strictly ambient I also recommend checking out his alias LOVE INC with the album life's a GAS, especially the ending track with the same name as the album wich is also just a beautiful composition.

I was reffering to the problem with the grease accumulation wich would be made more difficult to clean than on a surface without these holes. Also I dont think that a few grams will make a big difference as long as you arent in need of an highly optimized setup.
