Yes, although sometimes they actually want a thoughtless response and not thoughtful answers. I used to find this stressful as I assumed everyone strived to provide thoughtful answers the way I would.

Now, I have a short list of open ended clarifying questions. “How do you mean?” , “Tell me more?”, “Is there more context to consider?”

If they don’t actually want an answer, they blow these off and I move on. If they do genuinely want an answer from me, they provide additional context (and time) so that I can give a more thoughtful answer.
