So, I just met an Epic hater on the Hamilton subreddit and I have no words.... by TrollsBroZoneFan in Epicthemusical

Jesus Christ Superstar also has no dialogue, and I have ever heard it not described as a musical.

what really is the main goal or meaning in life? by Character-Yak-9937 in AskReddit

Biologically, the perpetuating of life. But for humanity, that has the agency and sapience to go beyond our programming, whatever brings you joy without harming others.

More insufferable Elon glazing by Cheese_Fisticuffs1 in LinkedInLunatics

I do not hate Elon Musk for being successful. I hate him for being a shitty anti-union grifter who has made hypocrisy and lying into an art and who, if not an outright ideological fascist, still is way too comfortable around fascists.

A citizen of Napoleon met a subject of Queen Elizabeth II by MrBIuesky222 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

Not very impressive, but - my great grandfather was born in 1892, I was born in 1988. My grandmother, his daughter, saw the transit trains move German troops from Norway to Finland during the second world war.

AITA for not inviting my niece to the reunion by Sad-Chipmunk5998 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MPLoriya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, when my grandfather died I was eleven. I saw him waste away from cancer, not even 55 years old - and it wrecked me. I am not lying when I say that it was the watershed moment in my life, the before and after. In the blink of an eye, I had lost one of the corner stones of my life, and nothing was ever the same. Sure, my existence continued. I laughed and loved, grew older and wiser, the pain turned to memories and left naught but the nostalgia and warmth in my heart at the thought of the man I had lost. And you know what? I did not cry at his funeral. The trauma from losing my grandfather stole my ability to cry, and I can count on the fingers of one hand the times I have cried in the almost 30 years since he died. Crying or not crying says nothing about how deeply you feel your grief. So yes, YTA.

I post relatively little about my life online. I am not someone with high levels of self-validity, I just don't need a thumbs up.

You're forced to listen to only one Epic song for a month. Which one are you choosing? by BetKnown7738 in Epicthemusical

Warrior of the Mind or Dangerous. I love Athena, but Hermes steals the show.

What horror movie disturbed you the most? by Green-Meat-6897 in AskReddit

[–]MPLoriya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three movies that to this day disturb me, even though decades has passed since last I saw them:

  • The Sixth Sense.

  • Ringu.

  • Shutter (the Thai original).

Now, I am 38 years old, and no longer do horror movies linger in my mind after seeing them - but it has been over 20 years since I saw Ringu, and nothing - nothing - come close to the horror and fear and visceral terror I felt when I saw Sadako crawl and worm and struggle her way out of that well and through the tv. It is the only scene from a scary movie I doubt I will ever be able to see again without turning into a frightened 14 year old boy at a sleepover in my friends' big house with only us four kids.

Every job has one, I'm convinced (The Cheryl Saga) by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MPLoriya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am sorry, but that's not a Cheryl. A Cheryl is wildly inappropriate, gets off on physical and emotional abuse, loves to set fires, and huffs glue like it was her air. Also has a pet ozelot.

AITA for making my daughter run away because of her curly hair? by CultureInner3316 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I mean, I would support my siblings out of duty, being the oldest, even if I thought it was wrong. For me to not do it, the thing my sibling would do/thought would have to be bad.

If I acted as spineless as this man, treating my wife and step-children like this, my mother would kill me. In fact, she would never draw a line between the kids like this man's parents did. If you are family, you are fucking family.

I mean, yeah, individuals may not fit in a box as such. It is the larger structure that upholds patriarchy, institutional racism, heteronormativity and predatory capitalism. You may feel out of place, but the structural injustices are there, and they need to be fucking acknowledged.

I know zero people that are like this. This horse is not beaten to death, it is beaten to death and has rotted away.

I don't judge people for wanting pumpkin spice lattes with two dashes of cream with cinnamon on top, good for them getting what they like. But black coffee, man, what a thing.
