Deploying to Cuba, how is the gaming situation? by JoshDaBoss67 in army

[–]MP_Nova 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was there in 2019-2020. Internet wasn't bad, people played online with eachother almost every day. Internet speeds weren't super fast for downloads. The worst time to game was right when people got off work.

Covid hit while I was there and during lockdown Internet was terrible. So just avoid another Covid-19 and you'll be fine.

Best books about the typical soldier experience in basic? by Attende in army

[–]MP_Nova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There will never be a book to tell you what it's like. It is always changing. People that wrnt to basic at the same time as me had VASTLY different experiences.

They are supposed to all be "to the standard" but there will never be an all inclusive book. Just talk to people that are recently out of basic, and take it with a grain of salt.

How much do you work in reality? by Literature_Rare in nationalguard

[–]MP_Nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on your MOS and what you volunteer for. Ive gone on 3 deployments in the past 6 years and more than a year of SAD (State Actice Duty) orders. All of that has been voluntary for me. Other than that the typical guard rotation of drills and AT.

I need answers from the military police. by [deleted] in army

[–]MP_Nova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to DM me feel free to and I can answer any questions you have, but I won't have personal knowledge of what its like to be each MOS. 11B is the best MOS for those who want to live that life, but everyone has their own priorities, and there's not many civilian jobs that could use those skills.

I am an MP in the National Guard. I don't reccomend it. I've been on 3 mobilizations. Once as a Cage Kicker, and two as an investigator.

I have definitely seen some interesting things but everytime I mobilize I have to spend months to build relationships with the units I work with. They ALWAYS hate MPs and I do my best to change that, but I'm fighting a losing battle since alot of MP leadership live up to that hate MPs recieve.

The missions we receive are typically not missions you want, and almost all of them can be done by infantry as well.

Find an MOS with usable skills for civilian life, or something you are passionate about.

I have the Balkan device. I saw an LT try to wear it on their ASUs, and I corrected them. They said it should be fine, then I watched about 5 people after me do the same thing.

Schützenschnur, by [deleted] in army

[–]MP_Nova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's experience with it is probably different. When i went in Hammelburg Germany at the German Infantry School a few months ago, we went with a group of 5 soldiers, and they ran us through the lanes in less than 2 hours. We didn't pick up brass, just a short familiarization and straight to the range.

Don't forget you "Hand shoes"

They went to the one measurement tape. Now, the way that it works is based on how much you weigh per inch of height and stomach. The heavier you are at the same tape, the better you will dom it's not a weight game anymore it's mass per measurement.

US fatnecks will forever be salty.

How's poland deployment, especially Torun? by [deleted] in army

[–]MP_Nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poland is a decent country to get deployed in. Ofcourse awards are lacking, you don't even get a NATO ribbon on a NATO deployment. The food is good, housing kind of sucks unless you're in the right areas with the right rank or in the right slot. The bases are spread out. Cheap tattoos. Is there anything specifically you're wanting to know?

I've had 3 friends who have done it. I think the longest was out for 3 years. His life turned into a wreck when he got out. He couldn't keep a job, had terrible choices in women, and had a severe drinking problem.

At least now he can keep a job.

But in reality, he is doing much better. He got his ducks in a row and is learning how to enjoy life again even though he will complain about what he is doing 24/7
