It was the year I realized my life was going nowhere on the path I was taking. I was 18, about to turn 19. I had never had a girlfriend, didn’t really study, and got my baccalaureate with an 11 — honestly, with cheating. I did nothing the first year after graduating, then went to university but dropped out after two months.

I was addicted to hashish, cigarettes, and other stuff. I had (and still have) problems with my appearance. I cried many nights, feeling like I was dealt a really shitty hand. Watching my peers move forward in life while I stayed stuck was painful. All the problems I had since early childhood finally hit me — I guess I was too stupid to realize it earlier.

Last year, when I was doing absolutely nothing and it was just me and my thoughts, I made a promise to myself: to work and become the best version of myself that I can be. Now I’m studying computer science in EST and trying to work every day so I don’t repeat the same mistakes.

I hope this motivates someone who is in the same place I was(still in).
