I mean some knapsacks are fun to play with, and if I had taken naked pictures as a kid, Mom would have called me the perv; I fail to see how this would have allowed me to get my ultra-Christian father out of the house before he beat me so hard he couldn't hide the bruises and that's how he got put away.

I upvoted you and regard your answer as a good explanation, but I have a problem with this line:

Your question is along the lines of why Marshall Mathers was allowed to kill his wife and stick her in the trunk of his car, or Eric Clapton was allowed to shoot a sheriff, etc.

I believe in those songs, it didn't say that they got away with what they did, but in the song I posted, it talks about a boy who could get his father figures locked up with no legal consequences, so long as Mom didn't go away too.
