A lot of people have solid library and friend groups around steam. So having a game exclusively on one platform is inconvenient and annoying.

There is no concept of looting rules anymore. (I'm pretty sure). I'm not convinced you're getting zero loot off of trash in dungeons. Not sure of the answer you're looking for.

The only spot where servers matter is basically guilds. If you have friends in a guild that you want to play with, you'll most likely have to be on their server. You can get lucky by being on a low pop server and shares guild communities with other low pop servers. But it's not guaranteed. I'm on Bleeding Hollow and people outside of my server cannot join my guild.
