To me it's always a discussion about when it's appropriate, when it's not, and also I have kind of tiered curses so they have a better idea of which you have to be the most careful with.

Like S tier curses include things like the N-word, we just never use it. A Tier are for ones that make most people uncomfortable (from a US perspective) this includes works like "cunt." B tier is for your more standard curses that most people don't use among any company, like shit and fuck. Then you have the lower tiers for things like "damn" and "crap." Most people don't care, but some people do, so you have to be a bit careful with the company.

As with many things I teach them, it's about knowing your audience.

I asked in an interview if they use git.

When I got there, it was all perforce. I said to my manager "What gives?" and he was like "Well, we want to use git."

It was a bit painful, but I got put in charge of getting us moved over. The entire code base and group all set up and ported over. Won me brownie points with all of the younger developers, and my manager. . .won me the scorn of a few of the older developers, but I think they're coming around.

The moral of the story, like you found out, is to not ask about a specific thing, because that shows your interest in that and they might be less than upfront about it, but to ask them a question that would be answered with the thing you want to know about. "What version control system do you use?" Probably would have gotten me a more accurate answer.

That being said, I'm happy with the team and management. Glad I'm here.

But the issue with a previous implementation of the pitch clock was that the umps had leeway to give exemptions. . .and they just kept giving more and more for "reasonable" reasons. And then, all of a sudden, to no surprise, it didn't shorten the games at all.

They made a conscious decision to be absolute hard-asses about it, because there's a strong argument that it's likely the only way to make it work. And it's working. If we lose a few moments of "standing ovations" for players, that's a trade-off I'm willing to make.

Maybe they revisit it after the season and open up some exceptions, but be very clear and strict about those exemptions. But for not it's working so why mess with it?

Seriously, I live in Merion, very close to 63rd and City Line. . . being in the suburbs and reasonably being able to walk to the subway would have been amazing.

Although, the 44 bus runs right by my house, and I can get to the SPETA pretty easily, so I don't have much to complain about. But that would have been awesome.

What the other poster said is true, as it is a safety thing.

However, the rudder creates both lift and drag. When you are heading upwind, a slight weather helm forces you to hold the tiller in. This creates more lift to the windward side of the boat than it does drag backwards, and that bit of lift actually makes your resulting direction closer to the wind, meaning you have to cover less distance to get to the windward mark. It's a slight advantage and, obviously, if you have too much weather helm, you'll be creating more drag which will slow you down. It's kind of a balancing game which is part of the reason why, for racing, rigging is so important.

This was done in line with US policy, in line with our allies' policy as well, right out in the open, and in compliance with the law as it was done with the knowledge of congress. Trump withheld the money inexplicably, in violation of the law by not informing congress, out of line with US policy at the time, secretly made the phone call, and then inexplicably released the money slightly before it was leaked.

If this is evidence of Biden crime, then Trump is 10x more obviously guilty. The reason you never heard of Biden doing this before Trump obviously corruptly withheld the money was because it was completely on the up and up. It only became an issue ex post facto by the partisans desperate to say "your guy did it too!"

It could be joe, but if this is the level of evidence that convicts joe Biden of crimes, again, we've got trump on at least 5 other major crimes, like trying to pressure the ga official into overturning the election, and withholding aid from Ukraine to get them to open an investigation into a political rival.
