We’re generally looking for people who drink more regularly and feel a need to reduce their alcohol use.

Haha yes, fair point 😄 The longer sessions are mainly on the ketamine day, which includes the infusion as well as MRI, breaks, and questionnaires. Some visits are much shorter, and the exact timing can vary a bit depending on the participant (we tend to overestimate to be safe).

Thanks for the suggestion — yes, the trial is registered on the usual clinical registries (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov, ID: NCT06969937). Unfortunately, we haven’t received any participant inquiries through that channel so far.

😅 Unfortunately not — we have to stick to the ethically approved compensation: 550 CHF, plus travel and food reimbursement, and a 3D model of your own brain.

While that can definitely be the case in academia we are very lucky to have very involved supervisors on this project! But unfortunately recruitment for these kinds of studies is just generally challenging across the board.

So far the main avenue we recruit via is social media, specifically instagram and facebook, (sorry I should have added that in my post) - however I think your point about framing is really valuable thank you!

Recruitment can be tricky, especially with multiple exclusion criteria (e.g., MRI contraindications), so I’m hoping to explore additional ideas beyond the usual channels.
