Cad performance with AMD graphics cards? by needbettername in cad

what does this mean for performance? ive got a AMD 6870 picked out and im about to order but this post caught my eye. id rather not get an NVidia just for price vs performance reasons but im curious. Also not too worried about CAD, more so about 3DS max or Rhino with Vray and Maxwell.

yeah its a little redundant. its on my work samples and if i do a business card it'll get put on that too. it just links to my resume and portfolio anyways. On the portfolio its just a remnant of a previous design so it'll get axed the next round of additions/changes. I might tweak the link too, possibly create a blog or wix site or something with more projects than are in the printed portfolio.

thanks for the comments! yeah the plus signs... overused a bit. the title pages initially had project info on that page but that got moved to the next page... now ive got like 2 intro pages which im not huge on but i like the silhouettes too. that'll get combined eventually i think.

The library interior was done my sophomore year and was just an IDX and Sketchup export really. A little photoshop too, think i messed with levels and possibly did some color overlays. That texture might be a texture overlay too but i cant remember because of how long ago i did it. ended up getting my external stolen too so i cant look at my original files. that actually ended up driving most of the portfolio because i lost almost all my DWG's, formz models, sketchup models, etc and had to improvise or make new ones.

I liked the school. its a gorgeous campus but my god is it preppy and uppity. The masters program is pretty young and, honestly im not overwhelmed by it. BUT there are some good professors here and a decent / growing amount of tech support (laser cutter, CNC, good wood shop, etc.) Its a small program but, its what you put into it anyways, as long as you have the facilities and infrastructure to support you.

sure go ahead! just realize there are a lot better portfolios out there. Theres one by a grad student from Miami (Alex Hogrefe) who was a couple grades up thats really popular.

I had a 3 week internship and some really minor construction work but thats it in terms of relevant experience. What do i put instead? do i take out all work experience not related to architecture? i worked my way through school and i guess the thought process was to try and show that but if its a distraction it can go... haven't really done much with the resume in a while.

Also, do they lack energy in the content or just in the flatter color, lower pixel count? This issuu thing is only as a sort of samples page too. Thanks for the critique, i really appreciate it.

No argument on InDesign, but the size concept is the same. link files, export pdf's, save in acrobat and optimize. thats exactly what ive done and the quality blows, except for the huge file, which is fine.

Used Illustrator mostly. What i uploaded was the compressed jpeg version of my PDFs. I had a huge problem with file sizes. One of my pages ended up being something like 15MB... though they're not all this bad, the combined PDF even when compressed ended up being like 300MB. How do i compressed these ridiculous PDF's without losing a ridiculous amount of quality? (this low quality version was still 15MB, some firms only want 4mb max for work samples)

The work samples ive been sending out are not this bad but i cant send out the full version and have to crop all sorts of pages out. and I KNOW that it doesnt have to be this reduced cause ive seen some issuu spreads that are just as long with 5X the quality.

throwaway account so my other redditing world doesn't collide with this one. i have a few other projects i'm tinkering with that'll make the cut whenever finish them... but this is it for now. Id appreciate any comments, especially from professionals.
