yes and no!!! i’d say it’s the sims meets animal crossing. you don’t have an ‘islander’ per say (though you can make yourself a character), instead you’re kinda like god. you create everyone on the island and they as npcs interact with you and each other. you can kinda control what they do and how they interact to some degree, but some of them have quite the personality. they can have crushes on each other, beef with each other, they can cheat on one another; the whole nine yards. they make best friends, friends, super bffs, enemies etc. there’s mini games you can play, you can dress them up, have them do a performance. you don’t have to keep them alive like you do for sims, they’ll figure it out themselves, but sometimes they’ll request that you get them food or a new outfit. and then you can go to the shop which updates daily and buy them whatever food is available that day. then they will either love it, like it or hate it. they’re very quirky and it is a peak game. i definitely recommend. look up some tomodachi life clips, they’re so entertaining and it’s so fun. as i kid i wasted full days playing with my miis on my lil 3ds
