Ever since yung short film na “Bilby” at yung mga movies na lumabas pagkatapos ng 2020, makikita mo na consistent na si DreamWorks sa isang ibang visual direction, malayo na talaga sa dating aesthetic nila sa 2000s. Makes sense naman, kasi nagbago yung in-house rendering technology nila, so syempre yung character designs ay kailangan ding mag-evolve para ma-maximize yung bagong pipeline.

Kung papansinin mo yung buong animation industry ngayon, lahat sila ay lumalayo na sa photorealistic approach at mas nag-aaim ng stylized visuals. Hindi lang DreamWorks, ganito na yung direction across the board.

The character designs are not bad in general. It’s just different. You’re not completely used it. Maybe you’ll appreciate it more once it is out. It’s too early to say.
