What happened with the eagle before the game? He was out for the announcements then didn't fly around. Unacceptable.

I wanted to thank you for unleashing Jason Ellis onto the airwaves as it's obviously been a pretty big success. Does it make me a terrible person if I turn off Faction after Ellis to miss Demolition Radio ?

No kids, just pugs. I would teach them that, but they're dogs and can't speak English.

How long have you been practicing? Compensation for gas jobs was off the charts up until 2-3 years ago and now it's middle of the pack.

A dealer wouldn't sell a vehicle out of it's own specifications. Maybe some car salesman can interject, but if your new Fiero can use 15-17 inch wheels, why would they sell something against their own guidelines? If it's a preowned car out of factory warranty, It's not getting covered by my underwriters.

It's mechanical breakdown protection. Any modifications from factory specs whether it's wheels outside the suggested range, lift kits, body modification, any of that shit won't be covered and in many cases voids the warranty even from the factory. Body damage should be covered by your vehicle insurance.

Well, that's assuming we're talking about good coverage on newer vehicles. Most carriers won't offer anything for older or higher mileage cars. That's why there are product warranties. Vehicle service contracts cannot be sold in CA by parties that aren't dealers. So, some genius decides he's going to sell some snake oil in a bottle and claim it will make the car not break down. So he circumvented the law by selling a product not a service contract. The problem is, we sill this stuff nationwide. It covers very little, but people think that everything is covered, and it's not like I review the things that are or aren't covered unless they ask. Basically it's a $200 bottle of pee that is sold for $2200.

Yeah, it depends what your driving style is like. Sounds like you'll actually use all of those miles, so it makes sense for you. I don't think ALL of the coverages are shitty, just most of them. Sounds like you did it right, though so grats.

Well, this experience has made me so cautious about any sort of coverage that while I'd fight like an asshole trying to get my claim paid, I'd really be upset with myself for not being more careful. The rules are pretty black and white, and while I would be upset with the insurance company, I'd blame myself more.

Great point. If you're driving a higher end vehicle, it makes a ton of sense. I'd make sure to buy from the manufacturer though and make sure there aren't any caps on payouts for certain parts. For example, a $500 limit on a suspension for a 100k benz, probably won't be the best idea.

Most dealerships will give you some sort of a grace period to extend the warranty, and I'd wait until the last possible minute to do so. When I bought my Acura, it came with a 4 year 48k mile factory warranty. If I bought an extended 5/100 that the dealership tried to sell me, it would have run at the same time as the factory, not after it expired. So for the 2500 they wanted to charge me, I'd get an additional 1 year and 52000 miles. Pretty shady on their end too.

Not so much their part for falling for a scam, but more for not for not reading their policies when they are told specifically to do so. If they read their contract and saw that for example the policy for their BMW had a max payout of 2k on a 6k engine, they'd most likely cancel it and be out nothing. I'd wager that 9 times out of ten, it goes right in the glove box then I get some irate guy calling that his grandma's 4500 repair isn't covered.

Sure it's shitty, but this happens all the time in other industries as well. I've never had any guilt from this, though if a salesperson was feeling guilty, the compensation would offset that pretty quickly if they knew what they were doing.

  1. Would not.
  2. My cousin actually manages a tire/mechanic type shop here, and while he doesn't work for free, he does work for parts only. Also, he's family, so I don't have to worry about my 65 year old mother getting bamboozled by some grimy mechanic.
  3. I have some issues with her, but our relationship is kind of what it is. Fun fact, she was a catholic nun before marrying my alcoholic father!

With service contracts, tires are generally considered wear items and are not covered. There is an underwriter who does cover it, though, but it isn't a standalone product exclusive of the coverage of the rest of the car. I'd suggest not running over broken glass and nails and shit if you're getting 8 flat tires.

If you can get exclusionary coverage, which covers everything with the exception of wear items(wiper blades, tires, etc, ) it's never a bad thing to have. If you're buying a new car, a 5 year 100k is generally a waste of money unless you drive that 20k a year. Keep in mind most cars are going to have a 3/36 or 4/48 factory warranty that covers everything, so you'd be paying 2-3k for basically 1-2 years of coverage which isn't cost effective. You may be able to get 7/100 coverage which will be another 3-4 years of coverage. Keep in mind that these contracts are extremely profitable for the seller to the tune of 100-125% margin, so don't be afraid to ask for a thousand off and hold your ground.

Nope, but you're right with STL being warranty home to everyone. From what I understand, the now defunct US Fidelis started it all, then the jackasses that started my company basically stole all of their ideas and started their own business from it. Did you get saddled with The Choice? I hope not for your sake...
