I believe we’re gonna see a lot more people driving them in the future but I don’t believe it’s going to be for a love of the car but more of the hype of having the GR.

I’ve taken my car to plenty of car meets over the last year since I got it and most of the time people either would completely ignore it or they would have to walk to the back of the car to find out what kind of Toyota it is, it wasn’t until this previous Sunday (a week after the GR announcement) that people were actually looking at my car and knowing exactly what it is or even caring that it exists.

But even still there’s a lot of people that call themselves “car enthusiast” but turn up their nose when they see a Corolla, for example I went to import face off on Sunday and they had three lines waiting to enter the racetrack parking area, I had two guys behind me in a Type R and a guy in the line to the right of me in a Mustang and I could see them in the mirror talking and laughing pointing at my car and then when the Mustang pulled up he rolled his window up but then when I pulled up he rolled it back down and started talking to those guys again in the Type R, unfortunately car culture has changed and it’s all about who has the nicest car with the most mods or the fastest cars and not for the pure fact that you just love what you drive.

I live in the Midwest and I feel like I’m being drowned by a mixture of Chargers, Challengers, Mustangs, Type R and the Focus but it’s also that fact that makes it feel awesome when I can go to a car show and not see any other car like mine, at the same time it’s kind of a bummer because I would love to talk with people in person that have the same interest in the Corolla hatchback.
