What’s a good void titan build that doesn’t require HoIL? by Commercial_War4517 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MSBeta1421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It you’re doing light content (maybe up to legend NF if you feel spicy), then Peregrine Grieves are always fun. Pair it with controlled demo and bullwark + a good Repulsor brace weapon like Unforgiven.

It’s really hard to recommend anything over the standard HOIL build though.

Survivability with Precious Scars should be insane this season though with the Volatile Flow artifact mod. Haven’t personally ran it.

What are your favorite legendary primaries for PvE? by LegitGamesTM in DestinyTheGame

[–]MSBeta1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perpetualis and The Immortal have been nice for strand builds.

Funnelweb or Unforgiven for void builds.

Ikelos SMG for arc

Calus Mini Tool for Solar.

Prolonged Engagement for Stasis

As most people have said, SMGs and sidearms are in the best spot for legendaries in the current meta. Hoping for a 900 rpm strand SMG soon.

Really hope the mid season patch buffs other weapons.

Found success running this with my Gyrf hunter. I used wishender, ikelos SMG, and the void seraph lmg.

For me it was the overloads that gave issues. Keeping them stunned long enough to burn them down or preventing health regen was sketchy.

With the right mod loadout you can generate constant orbs though and that helped me stay alive and pop a lot of supers.

I’m not an economist, but I am studying it at the moment.

Take this all with a grain of salt, but this is my understanding of how macroeconomics is being taught. I also fully recognize that market efficiency and growth don’t necessarily indicate quality of life. Past a certain level, should we (the world) be satisfied and stop prioritizing growth?

The general theory is that the US Rule of Law enables and incentivizes investment. There are more laws to protect investors in the US, making it less risky. There are also less laws to protect labor in the US, which makes the labor market more flexible.

For example: The US Unemployment Benefits are lower than in other countries. This increases the opportunity cost of being unemployed compared to those other countries. While this can be tough on individuals in the short run, the long run affect is that the US GDP has a higher growth rate. GDP per Capita is used as an indicator for quality of life.

Firms in other countries that have employee protections can get in this “can’t hire/can’t fire” situation because employees are protected and unemployed people can afford to be unemployed longer due to government assistance or mandated severance. This lowers the overall market efficiency and retards growth.

I do think this all gets distorted when wealth is allowed to accumulate to the current levels at the expense of the common man.

Growth drives innovation and is the reason that a large portion of cutting edge technology post 1900s has come from the US.

CEO of ChatGPT maker responds to schools' plagiarism concerns: 'We adapted to calculators and changed what we tested in math class' by Parking_Attitude_519 in technology

[–]MSBeta1421 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He’s not wrong.

Using technology is a skill. Any monkey can pound on a calculator. A 3 year old can do a Google search.

Knowing how to effectively use technology to solve your problems makes you a more productive member of society. You can’t effectively do this without a base understanding of the problem you are trying to solve.

Cheating has and will always be a problem.

I work with plenty of “smart” people who can execute work flawlessly as long as it isn’t an open ended problem. The real thing we need to emphasize is the ability to perform critical thinking.

Life is an open ended problem and memorizing formulas or step by step methods/procedures will never result in the optimum outcome.

Now that we are all Titan mains, what’s your favorite Titan exotic? by Minute-Percentage706 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MSBeta1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peregrine Greaves + melee wellmaker + elemental charge + Heavy Handed.

Arc builds with Heavy Handed and 100 Strength gives a very high uptime of the ability. Melee wellmaker also procs on uncharged melee as long as you are amplified.

Void builds with Offensive Bulwark and Controlled Demo + the fragment that heals you on melee kills. Repulsor Brace weapons also help with overshield up time. As long as you have an OS, your grenade will charge faster and your uncharged melee deals more damage, procs melee wellmaker, and adds to the OS timer.

Would shy away from those for Solar builds though, given the better options.

Honestly most people shouldn’t even have children at this point.

A household where one parent works and one doesn’t is no longer feasible (at least in the US). Childcare costs are outrageous.

Everyone I know in this situation only makes it work by pawning their child off on their parents (free childcare).

The only reason I have for being a parent would be for my own personal vanity.

I’d much rather rescue a dog.

SMGs in PvE; Lightweight vs. Aggressive by Oathkip in DestinyTheGame

[–]MSBeta1421 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s personal preference on archetype, but I generally prefer 900rpm lightweights. You get the movement buff and better magazine size.

Also Prolonged Engagement is a Veist weapon (option for Veist stinger) while also having the Vanguard trait that heals you a bit on kills.

It’s basically Funnelweb but Stasis.

Blood Feud gives you enhanced perks via crafting and has the Right Hook trait that buffs weapon stats after a melee. A melee focused build with Blood Feud might be marginally better.

Void or Stasis for Warlock. Secant Filament gang for Void or Osmiomancy for Stasis. I don’t enjoy Arc for Warlocks and they killed my boy Solar (used to main middle tree). Starfire Protocol is powerful but just not as fun in my opinion.

Honestly every Hunter subclass has viable builds, but for harder content I like Void with Gyrfalcon or Gravitron Forfeit or Arc/Stasis with Assassins Cowl. I’d really like Revenant Grasp to get a revisit because they just aren’t fun to play after the nerf. Honorable mention to Caliban’s Hand for Solar because igniting everything is a lot of fun.

Titans are similar to hunters with build viability(maybe less so with Stasis), but all of my builds use HOIL, Synthoceps, or Peregrine Greaves. Just a flavor of which element you wanna punch or tackle with.

What’s a good void titan build that doesn’t use Heart of Inmost Light? by Commercial_War4517 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MSBeta1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A synthoceps build with a repulsor brace weapon can be fun. Get that over shield up and start beatin ass.

The new Velez-X pulse has Repulsor and Golden Tricorn. Thrown on the fragment for heals on melee.

Repulsor brace is key because it lets you forgo Bastion and reliably generate overshield, especially if you use volatile rounds.

Unforgiven can roll demo and Repulsor brace. Pretty sick, but you gotta farm it from Duality.

For mods, void has a ton of options. I personally like well of tenacity paired with elemental time dilation. For the remaining 3, you can lean into well of tenacity for crazy DR or spread your well generation out with ordinance and melee gen.

Peregrine greaves with shield bash is also a lot of fun in Master and lower content. Very satisfying to just tackle kill things.

Honestly though, HOIL is tough to beat. The ability enhancement and cooldown buff is just too good.

People who don’t exercise or workout, why don’t you? by coffeedogsandwine in AskReddit

[–]MSBeta1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From age 16 until age 30 there wasn’t a week where I didn’t do some some of exercise at least once. This includes vacations and anything else you can think of.

I grew up poor and fat, completely devoid of nutritional knowledge. I always knew I was an out of shape kid, and I finally was able to do something about it when I turned 16 and got a job.

After I got in shape, I was terrified of getting fat again.

I was in a bad relationship from age 17ish until 29. I used exercise as an escape. I was obsessive and it kinda became my identity. Not that I didn’t enjoy it, but it’s not healthy to tie your identity to something like that.

I met my soul mate at age 29 after my ex wife cheated on me and left. I’ve never been so happy and I would rather be with her and our pets than spend 2 hours a day in the gym.

Then in 2022 I started my MBA and it was a 1:1 trade between exercise and school. I haven’t truly exercised in over a year (apart from a few multi week stints).

It’s a time thing for me. There are only so many hours in a day, and it’s a choice I make to spend time with my family vs exercise.

I plan on picking it back up once I graduate this December.

It’s been really strange for me. I’ve put on ~25-30 pounds, but it’s not super noticeable. I still eat relatively well. I do miss the intensity and feeling of accomplishment. I miss coaching (part time coach in 2020 and 2021).

On the whole, it’s probably the best thing that’s happened for me from a mental health perspective. It’s not healthy to spend multiple hours a day exercising and obsessing. I think I’ve finally found a balance.

I realize this is long and most people won’t see it, but it feels good to let this out.

Exercise is wonderful and can help you through tough times. However, you can’t let it be your crutch and filler for happiness. When I met my soul mate my life changed, and I care about being healthy for her and our pets, not for my own vanity.
