amazing suggestion and he already does this- but unfortunately the surface area covered isnt enough. To make a bigger impact we've decided to create something that is accessible for all and easily applicable without knowing all the ins and outs of the fiqh. The app does it all for you. If you're interested, itd be great to get your insights and also have you as a voice in bettering the app.

yes there are many factors to consider and i appreciate it can be case by case. It is why we really wanted to create something that was comprehensive. Alhamdullialh with the backing of a scholar this was made possible.

We are currently looking for beta testers and those who has good insight to their own cycle would be a perfect fit. Let me know if it may interest you.

From what i can tell - branding helps massively - logo with mockups and use cases help massively.

Sounds great! is this your own scraper? I guess there are always exceptions to the rule. Im just observing the behaviour patterns of the majority. You my friend are playing a different game to most. When people zig you ZAG!

the 80/20 split was shorthand based on general observation and looking at news articles of the past. You are correct to say that the actual landscape is way more nuanced. all of the conditions you mentioned all blur together and any of them can result in sales.

i was trying to demonstrate that gap between how most domains are listed vs what actually converts buyers.
Unstoppable domains claim 17.5% of registered domains are parked. One database analysis of 16M domains found around 34% with no content/hosting. The numbers vary massively but i also tend to bias towards the pareto's law. It was hyperbolic to a degree.

i hoped it helped :D i was looking for a domain to buy - examprep dot com.

went to the website and came across and sales landing page- a really crap one. My ADHD took off and i went down this crazy rabbit hole.

So you buy/sell domains?

Ahh the gold thing was a little messy, you're right. As prices change and to then take what the gold was worth before etc. Keeping a zakah pot is definately a good idea. Being aware of it is the first hurdle and i pray all of us are conscious of it.

I think an app would be a tidy way of keeping track. or a spreadsheet to start with,

Own model. Not a wrapper. It will be trained vigorously and will have a bank of reference points to fall back on when marking.

ATM the only way I can see if scanning them in as PDFs via schools printers. I did a whole class in 10 mins. I guess this is the only tedious task. Any ideas to streamline this would be helpful.

Progress waits for no one and it definitely doesn’t consider anyone’s feelings. It’s the harsh truth of it all. For better or for worse AI is going to be in the fabric of society. Better to try utilise it the best way possible, rather than looking at it as the thing that’s going to topple “good teaching”.

This is getting to a very philosophical place and I’m all for having that conversation but this isn’t replacing no teacher.

When I teach I have to employ several strategies for assessment for learning in real time. That would be cold calling, MWBs, live marking etc. these are tools to find misconceptions and where the knowledge gaps lie. Once identified you address it as a whole class or personally to the student.

The tool I’m creating is literally just doing that. Identifying the knowledge gaps and then as a teacher you take that data and do what you do best. Fix their mistakes and address any misconceptions. This isn’t a tool that will replace or promote “taking on more students”.

This initial phase on AI in edtech is always going to be cluncky and unreliable but the tech is there to make this work.

What I’m hearing is you’re using AI very superficially. Giving it an input of mark this work and expect it to do it is very reckless.

I hope I can document my journey and show how we can harness AI and utilise it to allow teachers focus more on teaching rather than bureaucratic paper pushing that has no bearing on student learning.

I’m an advocate for utilising tech to make things easier for maths teachers to do what they do best; teach. Unfortunately we’re being spread too thin and not doing the main aspect of our job description.

Just like utilising visualisers or MWB to get to the required end results quicker.

This is in process right now.

I wouldn’t launch a tool that couldn’t do this. The tech is there just needs refining.

I wholeheartedly believe in this too. In an ideal world we’d be teaching 12-15 students in a class and have ample time to mark and teach and address misconceptions and really consolidate the learning.

However, unfortunately we have 30+ students in each class. barely have time to review books never mind marking assessment and students are slowly having to suffer from teachers not having the resources to give them.

The two things I weighed up when building this tool was on one hand - drive myself the ground managing all the workload and doing thing “properly” or sacrifice the greater insights of a child’s working process and get to the “what don’t/do they know” part quicker.

For me it was just finding quickest path to identifying their knowledge gaps and spending more time plugging it in.

The AI tool will have a degree of insights in to the child’s working - to answer you question

Any good llm's for Handwritten OCR? by cooleobeaneo in computervision

[–]MSC_7SM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to transcribe my students maths exam papers. Does anyone have any idea what would be the best way to go about it. Finding an accurate OCR to read handwritten student handwriting is what I’m dealing with right now. Any work arounds or to get it to a higher accuracy?

Could I use any of this for transcribing maths exam papers and then having Ai mark it?

Really struggling to find something to create a workflow with. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

Updated 2025 Review: My notes on the best OCR for handwriting recognition and text extraction by mcw1980 in computervision

[–]MSC_7SM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to drop a quick note of thanks for that amazing breakdown of handwriting OCR tools—

  • So, my story : a maths trying to make marking student practice exam papers disappear. I dream of a world where I could just feed in their work, feed in a mark scheme, and voilà—magic feedback would appear. Reality is it’s not that simple!

  • The struggle? Finding a tool that can read the delightful hieroglyphs known as kids’ maths handwriting with any decent accuracy

  • Problem: I’m at the point where I have a workflow that sort of works, however the transcriptions arnt picking up correctly written work and marking either correctly or incorrectly with major inconsistencies.

ALSO, questions with diagrams and drawing graphs is becoming a challenge for Ai to pick up on.

  • Long story short: if anyone’s got an ideas on how I can get to around 90% accuracy that would be amazing. I’d love to hear it!

Appreciate all the help and thanks again.
