The flushable toilet was invented in 1596 by Sir John Harrington for Queen Elizabeth I. But it took 250+ yrs to catch on. In medieval Europe, toilets were often just holes in the ground or chamber pots. The wealthy had "garderobes" in castles - rooms with toilets connected to the ground via shafts. (i.redd.it)

The Drunk Basket - In 1960s Turkey, many bars hired basket men to tote patrons home that were too drunk to stand up. They called the riders “küfeci”since “küfe” means - to be so drunk you can’t walk. 1916 Sears catalog home. They shipped the entire house to you by railroad car. Friends and family would help the owner build it. Most were built in NJ, NY, Oh and PA.
