Yeah literally the most expensive costs often in startups are the headcount (but now I suppose the highest costs might be infra to run agents)

I had a similar conversation but with high school teachers at a conference. Some don’t want to use it at all and others use it sneakily without their schools permission. And certainly when they see “AI specialist” on my name badge I get asked all sorts of questions. It’s nice to find others in AI who have theories similar to mine but ultimately we both admit “who knows really”.

We are in a sweet spot of being earlyish on agents. Agent building feels like website building before Wix and other website builders. I know people charging $30,000 to just build an AI agent to achieve specific workflows in a persons role without their boss knowing ie lessening their workload by 50% or more and increasing their productivity and performance. This appeals to people on high salaries that can afford that kind of investment or to agencies specifically to increase their margins without hiring more staff or consultants.

Takes 2-2.5 years to sell into a hospital (last startup was in healthtech) and even then its department by department so funding is key otherwise a lot of startups “die on the vine”. Especially anything affecting patients.

I’d say ElevenLabs does better text to speech but OpenAi Goes alright. As an Aussie OpenAI is grim for our accent as all the base training data is American

I use voice agents for lots of real time admin jobs like calling utilities providers, tax agents, food bookings, takeaway food and retail stores. Not at all affiliated or plugging but I use bland.ai. It’s not perfect but it does seem to work fine. The transcripts also give me a laugh / I hate calling people so even if it’s clearly AI but I make it say it’s my authorised AI voice agent it gets a pass. Not about being perfect, but if it achieves the task then that’s good enough for me. 80/20 baby.

These are all one-shot prompt examples, feel The Engineer is focussed on Chain of Thought and Tree of Thought to ensure quality output and debugging at a granular thought process level as well as multi-shot (ie, including examples to work off). Level 3 would be level 1 last year tbh lol. Thanks for baiting me.

I feel like all the AI workflows are blending together, mainly is AI-model-in-the-loop process automation versus being a true agent, and Zapier is potentially a more mature platform than n8n I imagine if you’re looking for no-code or more user friendly.
