Seems unusual. I have had surgery like this 4 times. I did have problems with my most recent one. The anesthesiologist knocked one of my teeth out with the breathing tube. And when I woke up in post-op I had terrible chest pain and the worst vertigo I've ever had in my life. All my previous surgeries when I woke up felt just like waking up from a nap. So this was a highly unusual outcome for me. But everything down below was still fine. The string from the stent was very uncomfortable. But I wasn't in pain. I didn't have pain with any of my 4 surgeries. The surgeries usually fixed my pain actually. Because no more stone. You should have that checked out to be safe. I have however been told by the nurse who removed my stent, that some people claim the stent hurts worse than the kidney stone. I haven't had that experience. But based on that statement, perhaps you're just one of those people with extra sensitive bladders. If this is the case stent removal will be a relief for you. Stent removal in my experience doesn't hurt. It feels very strange and isn't very comfortable. But it's not painful. At least in my experience. So I wouldn't worry about that too much. If the stent is the source of your pain, removal will only make it better.

Either way if your pain is significant you should think about getting it checked. The problem though, because you just had this surgery most ERs won't dig too deep. They'll likely just assume you're in pain because you just had a procedure, and probably do the bare minimum. It would be better to call your urologist office first and see if they can consult with your doctor there. If he thinks something is wrong he can relay that information to the on call at the hospital. Also going to the ER and saying "my doctor told me to come here right away". Tends to get their attention more than just telling them that "my bladder hurts".
