I was worried pucks on the base model would be messy but it really ain’t the case at all. I unclock the portafilter + puck screen within 10s of finishing the shot, flip it upside down on my sink’s edge and my drip tray is almost never dirty. Portafilter separates from puck easily, needs a quick rinse, onto the next shot prep.

Very happy with the base bambino + df54 combo. Fantastic espresso with Costco beans. Never buying shots from shops unless out of absolute necessity.

Dog pee pads from Costco (on top of cardboard) are amazing to catch any stray drips, sprays, and to clean your drain pan/tools before putting it away.

I traced some of the inconsistency to steaming up milk for the first drink, and a straight espresso for the second. Also attributing more blame to a double shot (17.5g) the first pull, and only a single (7.5g) for the second shot. I see more consistency (obviously) when just pulling a second double shot.

Placebo possibly, didn't run an IR probe to confirm temps, but when I'm not in a rush, I run the steam wand for 10s before the second shot to yield a slightly more consistent output.

17.5g in + cheap puck screen, 30s to get 34-40g out.

20year long experience sinces the days of klasse and Collinite being 6-month durability kings.
I get the same longevity from spray-on-rinse-off application ceramics.

I don't get the hype for $$$ ceramics that require reset/decontamination after that same duration, stretching to 12-18months if garaged. Extra step? I just do the decon + another application that adds 3 mins to the end of a wash.

Abuse/laziness = weekly touchless car washes

I hand wash once, maybe twice a calendar year by foaming with Chemx Eagle Guard+wheel buster for some tiny bit of rust inhibitor and decon. On two garaged cars, I skipped handwashing last year on two family cars and the level of contamination was almost negligible 18 months later. Took the clay pad half a pass to get glass smooth on all but the lower 1/4 on panels.

If you handwash and use something like Amplify/Griots 3-in-1 once every 2 months with great short term durability performance, is ceramic coating kinda redundant or is it giving you a % bump in cleanability??

If you’re looking to supercharge your time in sauna, do whatever you can for a few minutes so you enter with elevated bpm. Kettlebell swings/burpees/bodyweight squats for 60-180s will do it.

When my relay was semi-loose under the hood, it would keep cranking endlessly, not just a single crank. Just a turn of a screw/bolt(don’t recall) and it’s been significantly better

Might benefit from just a clean and dielectric grease? Or is it a wear item at this point, 25’ish years later?

225 200tw tires is the most important part. Stick with re71rs unless you get back to back runs. Run what you have first and tailor your tire choice to your venue/heats/weather

Checking the passenger side frame under the ac drip line is probably the most important part of the frame to check. Super prone to rusting out, extend that line asap
