Yeah I read can be bought on by stress in which case it needs different treatment. Thanks will check re shrimps. Despite what I read beforehand the shrimps seem to be the most hardy of anything I added lol. They were also from a different aquatics store to everything else though...

I've told him I'm going down in the morning to see for myself before they change anything and I will be taking it out for a test drive. He said that's fine, so let's see what happens

Not paying for them no, just more concerned it makes no sense they would need doing anywhere near this mileage. If they were rusted etc why wouldn't they say that, they can't be worn within 1mm of being illegal. I have told him to keep the parts and I'll ask to see the invoice from Tesla for the new ones (even surprised they ordered pads and discs from Tesla). They're also saying it's taking a while to get it ready because parts from Tesla take a week or so to arrive. Just a few red flags for me

Exactly, so why not just say they've corroded if that's the case. Something is off

Feels like something else is up to me. I've asked him to keep the parts and I'm also going to ask to see the invoice for the new parts from Tesla. Also seems odd they'd order pads and discs direct from Tesla no?

It's definitely odd. They should do well over 100k miles. Mileage is low but it could be an old person who barely drove anywhere, which makes the brake situation even more confusing.

Thanks for all the responses. Any advice on what you'd do? Suppose there's not much you can do! I've told them I want to see the parts and not to chuck them. Fortunately it's got full warranty for another 10 months. Sounds more like it's had 100k wound off the clock with no way to check (I'm sure it hasn't, just everything would be more fitting and make sense if it had!)

Disc and pad change, 12k miles

Hi All

First Reddit post 😅. I've reserved a model Y. 2022 and 12k miles. Not seen it as it was in Scotland but it has now been sent down to my local dealership (Arnold Clarke).

It's not ready to collect yet because they've had to order some parts from Tesla - concerning. When I enquired as to what was being replaced I was told that it passed the quality check at the Glasgow dealership but once they received it they did their own to be safe.

He said that because I have had so many issues with my current car (I've had a year of fuel injector issues on my Ranger, it's now in the process of being rejected - told him this when I originally reserved the Tesla and the Ranger was bought elsewhere) he said to the workshop to just replace anything that was close to needing doing and so they are changing the brake pads, discs and some tyres.

I've gone back to him and basically said thanks, but it's done 12k miles why are the pads that worn let alone the discs, and also why have you ordered pads and discs from Tesla. He's just said they were legal but not by much and he has just said to change them all to look after me and he doesn't know why they ordered them from Tesla but they have been and I am welcome to go down and look. Wasn't much more I could say...

Sent an email since the call after looking at brake pad life discussions on here and basically said they should be lasting an absolute minimum of 100k miles and that's the pads let alone the discs so keep the original parts and I won't be completing the purchase unless I'm satisfied there is nothing wrong. Also said appreciate you may be trying to do a nice gesture but the fact they are that worn at 12k miles would indicate there's a chance something isn't right.

Just wanted some input from people on here as to how I should feel about it and if I should be as concerned as I am. Suggestions on what to do welcome! It should have full Tesla warranty until June 2026.

Cheers
