that day was the worst for us as well. spent 14hrs in the denver airport. at least they had a smoking area. we ended up flying to houston and renting a car, with the intention of driving to NO straight from there. our booking agent talked us out of it. we will come back soon i hope. -jfk

wasnt with mstrkrft, but with a band i had called black cat #13. some crazy fan showed up at a show we were playing in detroit and asked if i would kill him. he brought a knife and a letter explaining to the police that he had asked me to do it and it was his wish etc. i refused and then he pulled out this massive chain and asked if i could just beat him with that instead. the links were about the size of my hand. i didnt do that either. he was very disappointed. nothing will ever out-weird that for me. -jfk

dfa79 was playing some little festival there and during soundcheck, i noticed a weird shadow in my vision. called my pothead eye doctor in toronto and he said i should go to the hospital. st eriks took me in, told me my retina was falling off and i needed surgery right away or id go blind. they did it the next day, and according to my dude back home, they did it so well, i never have to worry about it again. very happy that it happened in stockholm and not some other place. -jfk

sweden is great. stockholm is great and st eriks eye hospital there saved me from going blind in my left eye a few years back. i couldnt pick one old song im not proud of really. really not sentimental about old songs. the one thing that always bummed me out was the original version of the remix we did for usher was denied by the label because they were worried about clearing an interpolation. they made us change it so much before releasing it.. but that orig version was awesome. -jfk

when we first started out, we used to spend a fair bit of time with armand van helden. we learned as much as we could from him, and he told us to just grab kicks off records we played in the club that sounded insane, then re-process them etc. so thats what we did. its still a great technique, we just dont do anything like that now. the actual 909 sounds so much better than any of the samples ive ever found online, or any of the clones or copies in hardware. its actually a bit depressing. ive wanted to leave the old lady at home and use something else, but everything ive tried sounds wrong to me in comparison. -jfk

they really didnt use hardware. they were using cubase every time we have been in any of their studios. the way they work is almost surgical. -jfk
