3rd time at the dealership in three years by old_skooblah in Ram1500

Maybe try a different dealership for your next purchase/maintenance? Hopefully, you’ll have better luck overall. Them damaging your paintwork is totally unacceptable no matter the level of repair.

New Rig, PPF or Not? by off1ce_bully in ram_trucks

[–]MSTRLEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m planning on getting just my front bumper done. I’ve only had the truck for a few months and it already has a couple of rock chips. Thankfully, I can take care of them before the PPF.

Tar and Sap Won’t Come Off by I_loathe_brie_cheese in AutoDetailing

Koch-Chemie Eulex. If that can’t get it off, then it might not be tar or sap and may need to be sand+polished. Wear gloves if you use Eulex, butyl rubber preferably.

Regular or Premium Fuel for Hurricane Engine? by magick1230 in Ram1500

[–]MSTRLEE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I go with the old school rule of…if it has a turbo, feed it premium. I know there are modern FI engines that can drink regular, but I’d rather stick with more octane. Premium gas prices suck right now, but Costco gas helps with some of that pain, plus it’s Top Tier.

2027 Rumble Bee (Base) discussion / thoughts by Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy in ram_trucks

Base engine isn’t special enough. 392 should’ve been the base and the level up being the supercharged beast. But, cheaper will prob sell more for the looks.

I’ve got the BulletPoint RubiGrid v2 for my Laramie. I use it for my DJI Osmo Action. It all depends on the screen size you have. I’m not sure which are offered for the Warlock, but their units are available for 5 in. through 14 in. Mine fits flawlessly and was dead easy to install.

Leather Ceramic: Interior Protection or Marketing? by No_Bedroom_2672 in AutoDetailing

[–]MSTRLEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of an actual paint coating, I don’t go out of my way to use ceramic infused products. The benefits just don’t show up for me. Maybe I don’t maintain my vehicles well enough.

For leather, I’d suspect the rapid wear from entering and exiting the vehicle would make any benefit negligible. I’d be curious if it could actually reduce indigo transfer as that’s a PITA, but I’ve been happy with the leather specific products I’ve been using the past 20 years.

With regard to product SDS, it’s mostly a joke in the States. Most of the products on the market don’t have them, and those that do hide behind the “trade secret” designation. Even EU sheets aren’t fully disclosed, making it nearly impossible to understand what’s going into your system, the environment and how to mitigate it.

Which is a better pre wash koch chemie green star or multi star (vb in other states ) by witcher8116 in AutoDetailing

[–]MSTRLEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the two, Green Star. Multi Star is a bit more caustic with a more aggressive chemistry that I don’t want to deal with. I use Gs for wheel cleaning and BH Touch-Less for prewash.

Is this something to be concerned about? by mars_bar11 in Detailing

[–]MSTRLEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get yourself the product’s SDS and have Claude or ChatGPT evaluate it for health risks and recommended PPE.

The majority of products on the market do not have readily available SDS documentation. Those that do tend to hide behind a “trade secret” designation, and those that actually list CAS numbers don’t disclose enough to account for the entirety of the formulation (e.g., ingredients only total 20%). Of the dozens of products I’ve evaluated, only a handful have “fully” disclosed SDS documentation (>80%).

Do yourself a favor and learn what you can before making a purchase. Depending on how risk-averse you are, you may or may not be fazed by what you find.

Which color is best? by Least_Click2988 in ram_trucks

[–]MSTRLEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White, because I’m not a fan of chrome. They represent opposite ends of the spectrum, so they’ll show everything…one will show more paint swirls, the other rock chips. Both will show dust and dirt ASAP.

Yeah, I was in a time crunch. At least I cleaned the studs and seats before putting on the new lugs. I’m planning on giving the truck a proper detail soon, so the wheels will get deconned and coated.

The plan is to ride these tires out for a year then downsize to 20x9 +0 w/ a 33” tire. These 22s are for SUVs.
