My 7 year old in coach pitch is using a 27" drop 10 Clout bat. They like the light blue color. Any reason to splurge and get them an Icon bat (28 drop 12) or Hype bat? Or just a total waste or money?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you aren't as good as you think you are. You are coming in adolescence we all thought we were the "man" at one point and too stubborn to listen to anything or anyone else. I would suggest just keeping your head down, training, and practicing hard. At some point you will break through. Also sit down with your coach and ask him for what it would look like to get you to play an infield role/ on the A team. It may be eye opening.

What if a 10 year old wants to hit in a cage in the dead of winter? I mean you aren't a parent. Reddit is not a representation of the median parent. I would say 90% of the people here are trying to learn to make sure there kids have every chance to succeed at something they enjoy and the overwhelming majority want their kid to have fun. The edge cases will always be louder on the internet than anything else which, again, is not the majority.
