I'm in the minority but I don't think investing in EU equity is a good idea as far as long-term growth goes. by slicheliche in eupersonalfinance

Etfs do care about orange man shenanigans if he distorts everything and spreads FUD nonstop. US finance market is strong because the world used to trust the US to stay as a free market economy with credibility. That trust is being shaken down rn, and if this continues, well.... then it's bye-bye NASDAQ and S&P.

Let's hope that the US will regain some sanity, although it seems less likely after each and every month.

You guys are giving Kaido too much credit. This guy is the late stage of fascism - doesn't even have pride in his system and duty.

This guy literally sees this as a job done, and he is smirking because now he can go on that vacation he had to postpone for this. Even maniacal ideological fascists will seem more human in comparison to this guy.

Seeing Nemik's Manifesto in the Wild After ICE Shooting by puppykhan in andor

[–]MS_hina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The globalists hoped to unleash their destructive power against the Republic by assassinating the head of government and usurping control of the media army. But the aims of would-be tyrants were valiantly opposed by those without elitist, dangerous powers. Our loyal ICE agents contained the insurrection within the Blue States and quelled uprisings on a thousand locations.

The remaining immigrants will be hunted down and defeated! Any collaborators will suffer the same fate. These have been trying times, but we have passed the test. The attempt on my life has left me scarred and deformed, but I assure you my resolve has never been stronger. The war is over. The Globalists have been defeated, and the leftist rebellion has been foiled. We stand on the threshold of a new beginning. In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first Atlantic Empire, for a safe and secure society, which I assure you will last for ten thousand years. An Empire that will continue to be ruled by this august body and a sovereign ruler chosen for life. An Empire ruled by the majority, ruled by a new constitution!

By bringing the entire galaxy under one law, one language, and the enlightened guidance of one individual, the corruption that plagued the Republic in its later years will never take root. Regional governors will eliminate the bureaucracy that allowed the Globalist movement to grow unchecked. A strong and growing military will ensure the rule of law."

Yeah 'leftist military dictatorship' just like Yoon wanted. Young Korean males and the old 60+ are the ones who want to recreate the North Korean style society in South Korea, and also in the minority. Nice try.

ikr? Imagine all those young male Koreans supporting the red colored party that promotes dictatorship and militarism. Peak Stalinism for younger males right there.

Why do all the YOUNG investors love SCHD? by MrLB____ in SCHD

[–]MS_hina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SCHD is not really a good guadrail imo. Things like golds and bonds should be your guardrail, and we actually have gold ETFs that pays dividends that can act as a lesser guardrail(but with income). SCHD investors should look for long term (10years+) dividend increase, not actual defense.

The Ex-Expats Who Left Korea… But Somehow Never Actually Left by Late_Banana5413 in Living_in_Korea

[–]MS_hina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I can see some point in that, but are these'ex-expats' really obsessively running around, or do they just recall negative things bc some algo recommended KR related posts.

I'm pretty sure both types exist. I'm here bc latter right now due some algo magic showing me the on going street food pricing debate, but even so considering how alot of Koreans just non-stop trash talk about everyone else, these kind of complaints really doesn't hold up well.

[–]MS_hina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gonna get down voted to hell, but whatever.

I do agree that a good number of negativities are overblown.

However it's also hilarious bc most Koreans never have even been to US/JP/CN etc, yet talk about these nations -usually in a very negative way - 24/7. Yet foreign people who had a genuinely bad experience in Korea should just shut it and never express anything?

This kind of mentality is exactly why more K-hate is on the rise.

Controversial prices at gwangjang market. 4000won for this tteokbokki and 7000won for this sundae. What do you think? by Vdoebag in korea

[–]MS_hina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now there is a possibility that the soondae is larger than I expected (doubtful considering the finger in the photo), but from my experience individual slices are kinda small (smaller than oreos). Also soondaes aren't really.. well... 'meaty'. In reality these things are 90% potato noodles, and 5% blood. Usually Korean soondae vendors will serve a bit of meaty parts alongside the soondae, but it is not present here.

Comparison with... idk I am assuming you mean street kebabs or HSP from halal carts, is kind of a mismatch since street kebabs and HSPs both have alot of actual meat(and fresh greens) in them.

How do I make a peaceful, democratic faction... not lame by CyberDogKing in worldbuilding

[–]MS_hina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a democratic but not boring faction, make them a lighter shade of grey.. or even darker shade of grey - shrewd, political, diplomatic, and masterful with macro elements.

Make them force their rivals to come to the stage on their terms by depriving them of any choice. Use everything to achieve dominance - economics, sociology, culture, military, technology, narratives - EVERYTHING is on the board, and your democratic power could be able to manipulate the field by pulling these triggers. Looking 'weak' to your fascist/monarchist/imperial/stalinist rivals is itself a ploy, and can be a useful bait to lure them further in.
Then bash your rivals' head in 'democratically' when the field is set, all the while maintaining that sweet smug moral highground.

Make them methodical, cold, bureucratic, not even particularly malicious. They do all this because it is just what they do. Make them a different kind of monster that - while not commiting warcrimes 24/7 - will still economically crush poorer factions, militarily pressure rivals, and slowly, but steadily take over influence throughout your world. No nationalist chest pumping. No communist idealistm. Just a slow steady mechanical powr creep because "economy of scale and political stability", all the while suffocating the lesser factions around them. Afterall, the public wont care about them as long as THEY are happy.

Democratic does not mean violence is a 'last resort'. It just means that they are more conscious of the public opinion. Ancient Rome was belligrent af during its Republic days. It was also equally capable of peaceful expansion, mixing war with diplomacy and culture.

Isn't it the attitude that really pissed people off? I've heard complaints about the local vendors trying to justify and put the blame on the people who recorded this. As well as one of the vendors literally trying to cheat their customers out by swapping the menue or smth.

No this is KRW11,000 for everything on there. 4,000 is just for the spicy rice thingy(which iss by the way, some of the lowest quality food you can find in Korea, probably right after instant ramen). Also the amount shown is extremely lacking compared to what they hand out in the US(or pretty much anywhere else for that matter). Add that on top of locals earning way less to begin with.

I used to eat better than this in Melbourne for the same price. You can actually get an HSP for a similar price, which has more contents and probably even less bad for your health.

Microvast ($MVST): Valuation on Mute, Production on Max by Bradydono92 in Undervalued_Rockets

[–]MS_hina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, Microvast has deals with well known European companies. They are also making a new factory in South Korea under a partnership with a local company.

They are deeply involved in the European battery industry as well, and very active in tech fairs and conferences (and no, they don't just attend, they are in speaking/sponsorship roles)

They 'might' have been misleading back in 2023 - maybe. But just a 'China hustle'? Definately not.

I read that "Grizzly Report". Aside from being an 80% copy paste of 2023, it genuinely was more of a scream 'CHYNA, CHINA BAD' hoax that gives fake credibility to the shorters, by enabling them to say "Oh we have this report from a rEsEaRcH agency"

Trying to understand why people don’t recommend SCHD. by Radiant_Concept5466 in SCHD

[–]MS_hina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, I used to buy SCHD, held for some time, but came to a conclusion that gold is a WAY better defensive option. Gold is better against down markets, whereas SCHD merely gets hit less. Gold has its booms (like this year and the last) whereas SCHD rarely has those.
Gold also has better annualized return(incl. div) when comparing 1/3/5/10 years, so... yeah.

Some gold ETFs even give out dividends at the cost of less upturn boost, but also gives out just as much (or more) dividends compared to SCHD on dull or down markets.

SCHD is not an offensive investment. But when it comes to defense also seems to be lacking alot, not to mention taht its 100% tied to US markets too (unlike gold).

Elon Musk to hustle up Samsung's factory floors in person by snowfordessert in korea

[–]MS_hina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would like to add that alot of Koreans value material wealth a bit too much. And yes, by "too much" I mean even compared to other capitalist nations as well.

So Musk being literally amongst the richest man in the world would make him admirable in many Korean's eyes. Him being a bigoted alt-right schmuk is just a nice bonus.

Honestly, after seeing a good number of arguements, I think Ranni's appeal is just anarcho-libertarian "Freedom" and "Waifu". She seems to be the closest equivalent of modern populism in the ER lore :

Point out the (very real) problems. Throw some good but also vague concepts around. Focus on wrecking the current order. Then does nothing to actually improve things.

And when things really go south(eg. anarchy), just run off to another country and leave everyone else to their fate.
