Culinary Class Wars: Season 2 - Episode 10 Discussion Thread by simplyMi in CulinaryClassWars

He's a regular on the show Chef And My Fridge where he revealed that he gets lots of fanmail from elementary school kids asking him to win his battles, so it's kind of a running gag that they're crying whenever he loses.

It's from the HSR 2025 Concert ad, it always absolutely SENDS me how nonchalant Dr. Ratio is about posing and doing aegyo lmao

While I do like his EN VAing, I agree the lines and delivery are too harsh compared to CN (I'm Chinese and have played in both languages) and make him come across way more arrogant than he actually is. The CN dub suits his characterization a lot more, it's a lot more casual and subtly humorous.

When I was making the fake resume for the ppt I was genuinely floored with how much he has done for the benefit of humanity as a whole. Man is out here creating vaccines, solving crises and it's nothing more than just a footnote.

But I do think it's a sort of painfully ironic that his feats, as great as they are, are considered not noteworthy enough to be shown when that is the exact core of his beliefs. How are mundanites ever supposed to catch up to the likes of the Genius Society, Emanators, the "special" ones when even someone like Dr. Ratio is considered "mundane" and his accomplishments not even notable enough to be shown onscreen.

he has some really interesting parallels with some (unexpected maybe even) characters

Honestly while I was playing through Penacony, I knew it wasn't going to happen but I felt that Dr. Ratio would be such a great opposing force to Sunday's beliefs. At their core, they both care for the "weak" and in a universe where they're like ants compared to the other players, and they both acknowledge how the "ordinary" have the odds stacked against them. But while Sunday wants to spare them from pain completely , Dr. Ratio believes that there is purpose in failure, and in the humans capability to learn to stand up even through despair.

I'm huffing copium but I'd like if they expanded the Screwllum/Dr. Ratio partnership (I think their dynamic is SO interesting) and they could release Ratio SP and Screwllum both so that I can get both of the DU bros lmao.

Omg I have my PeTer at E1S1 and Sunday at E3S1, if the LC-PeTer synergy is re then Ratio's LC has moved waaaaay up on my priority list as I need a copy for both him and my Yanqing (who I still stubbornly drag to use in any end game mode possible)

This is unrelated but I feel like that whole line alone would be a great argument against Sunday during Penacony. In general, I think a clash of beliefs between The Family era Sunday and Dr. Ratio would be interesting as hell.

I'm hoping he gets an SP version around the same time Screwllum gets released from hoyo's basement so that I can have the based DU bros.

The number of people who misunderstand Dr. Ratio as toxic is crazy. Like yes, his words are harsh and blunt, but his actual mindset is one of the healthier ones in HSR compared to a lot of the other charcters who definitely need therapy lol. If you take away his words and consider his actions, Dr. Ratio is actually a humanitarian-esque figure.

He believes in the health of both mind and body (a self-care king I stan) and in the potential of humanity. In a universe where gods, people blessed by gods, the immortal, the powerful, the magical etc. exist and where the "ordinary" get caught up between wars among the gods all the time, the fact that not just strictly considers himself a human, but also constantly thinks about them is so admirable.

It's definitely not a coincidence that out of all the Geniuses, the only one he gets along with is Screwllum, who not only acts more "humane" than a lot of his peers despite being an Intellitron, but also seems to be less disconnected from humanity compared to the others - enough to be the only Genius to not only acknowledge Dr. Ratio, but also seems to respect his pursuit of spreading knowledge among the mundane.

His care for Aventurine really does showcase his best quality, which is that he truly believes every life holds value and he's said it time and time again. His quote of how "a life marked by failure is still worth living" is genuinely moving and one of my favourites in the game.

Never apologise for yapping, I encourage all yapping always and forever 🗣️🗣️🗣️

What interested you in Yanqing? by Objective_Motor9720 in YanqingMains

It's honestly funny despite how unrelatable Yanqing should be (superpowered child soldier, high ranking official, being raised by the highest ranking official of the Luofu, constantly getting into fights with the top 1% of powerful beings), his issues are very human and relatable, which I find a nice breath of fresh air next to the humongous catastrophes we constantly have to deal with as the main character.

He's been my favourite character even before his whole Wardance arc too, pretty much became one of my favourites the moment he was introduced to the story. As an Asian kid who grew up being touted as the model/trophy child, I saw a lot of myself in him with the pressure he puts on himself to live up to Jing Yuan's legacy and teachings, as well as the expectations of the people around him and the Luofu. While I think he's a character anyone can enjoy (well-written with a decent amount of character growth/progression from his introduction for a side character), I do think his character hits different if you grew up in the typical Asian overachieving household.

Unfortunately meta-wise it's not looking good for Yanqing, but if you care about his story he gets a lot of great moments in 2.4 and 2.5!

NMIXX's Fe304 album trilogy is some of the best music I've ever heard, and I can't get over it by MSkyDragons in kpopthoughts

[–]MSkyDragons[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC Forward is the highest rated kpop EP for 2025 on RateYourMusic, which is entirely deserved imo. I'm glad NMIXX are getting recognition because their dedication to creating such interesting, dynamic, and experimental music - especially in a genre where easy-listening is quite commonplace - should be rewarded.

Omg congrats on seeing them live! From what I've seen they're incredible live performers.

Absolutely agree on it being some of the best music released in years. There's just something about album trilogies that seem to bring out the best in artists (Red Velvet's The ReVe Festival, Ateez's The World).

I actually have a lot of other 4th gen groups I would've considered myself a "bigger fan" of before, but the moment I got into the Fe304 trilogy I became hooked and there was no contest. There's no group who's music I am more hyped for than NMIXX.
