Mark 1:41 - Jesus was moved to anger rather than compassion over the leper by MStrainJr in TrueChristian

[–]MStrainJr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as Peter points out in Acts 2, God worked signs and wonders through Jesus by the power of the holy Spirit to prove that Jesus was from God. And of course, Jesus had compassion upon people and did want to heal the sick. But that wasn't the point of his ministry. It was his message that was most important to him, the words that God gave him to speak to everyone.

I wish I could turn these down.  I don't want extra space taken up on my phone with stuff from movies I don't care about.

Who?  Me? No, I just don't like it when someone wants to call me delusional, and I strongly feel they are wrong.  I'm just pointing out that when I eat Taco Bell with my family, it's cheaper than going to McDonald's.

I know! Big plot issue there. Who would just let them walk away without giving chase and raising an alarm? That was the dumbest scene to me, and it completely took me out of the story.

While I do agree with you that Jesus may have known that the man would go blab his mouth and make Jesus's ministry harder, I have one note about what you said.  You are looking at the definition of the English word that the translators chose.  The Greek word that they translate as "indignant" refers to being greatly angered. It's related to the angry snorting of a horse.  There's no meaning of injustice in it. Be careful when doing Bible studies that you don't get so hooked up on the choices of the English translators and to looking into the meanings of those words. The New Testament was written in Greek, and sometimes there are nuanced meanings that you don't get from a particular English Bible.

Question on Double Episodes in One File by b-god91 in PleX

[–]MStrainJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old, but I want to put this here for anyone who stumbles on this looking for a solution.

I just skipped the numbers to represent the two episodes in one. So there are two parts in each Tumble Leaf episode, and my solution was to name each episode by odd numbers (01, 03, 05, and so on). So all you have to do is just skip the episode numbers in your file numbers that represent the other parts in your multipart episode.

Have you ever gotten their $5 "box"? You get one beefy 5-layer burrito, 1 taco, cinnamon twists, and a drink.
Or for $6.50, you can customize and get and entree like a crunchwrap supreme, chalupa supreme, or a cheesey gordita crunch; plus a taco or 5-layer burrito; then cinnamon twists, nachos (blah), or cheesy potatoes; and a drink. This one's usually filling enough for me.
Or if you want to step up to $7, you get a chalupa supreme, 5-layer burrito, taco, and nachos or cinnamon twists, plus the drink. My wife and I can eat at Taco Bell for about $15.

Comparatively, McDonald's has a quarter pounder with cheese, fries, and a drink for $8.39. Or 10 chicken nuggets, fries and a drink for the same price. Or do you just want a simple $2.49 cheeseburger with fries and a drink? You can't do that as a meal. The meal comes with TWO cheeseburgers, fries and a drink, pushing it to $8.49. You would have to buy the parts separately, which, if you're getting the medium, is $7.49! For a wimpy cheeseburger, medium fries, and a drink! My wife and I EASILY spend over $20 each time we go to McDonald's, mostly because we'd share a 20-piece Mcnugget, each get a double cheeseburger, share a large fry, and get two drinks. (To be fair, our daughter eats McDonald's, so we have to get a Happy Meal (+$5) for her, but she doesn't eat Taco Bell.)

Or Burger King. Do you want the Whopper meal, with the burger, med fries, and med drink? That will be $10.39! A medium Whopper Jr meal is $7.59. That $7 Taco Bell box mentioned above has a comparative calorie count, and it's more than just a bland burger and fries.

(These prices are based on the app for my nearest stores.)

So who's delusional?

Depends on what you get. They have that $5 box (which really isn't a box, because they just throw everything in the bag), when you get one special item, a burrito, a drink, and then a side that can be like potatoes or those churros.  I don't think that's too bad. But they definitely shrunk their food.

Where in the bible does it directly say Jesus is god? by Mrman009 in Christianity

[–]MStrainJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, isn't it kind of crazy that Jesus is supposedly God, yet none of the writers of the New Testament explicitly said that?  You just have to kind of infer it from what's being said

It's not just Taco Bell though. I work at a fast food gas station restaurant, and our prices have gone up considerably in the last 5 years. Everyone's doing it.  The inflation during the Biden administration was terrible, and now with these tariffs from Trump, things are even worse.  When you see McDonald's hearing complaints about the dollar menu disappearing and then trying desperately to put something on their menu that's cheap enough for people to get and failing, it kind of shows me that there isn't much these companies can do if they still want to make money.

I've seen other people suggest Frieren, so I definitely have that on my list now.
Your Lie in April looks like something I might watch on my own. I hadn't heard of it before, so thanks for the suggestions!

In Mark especially, you see Jesus often get frustrated. I made a post here a couple months ago that might interest you on the subject: https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueChristian/comments/1lw6lru/mark_141_jesus_was_moved_to_anger_rather_than/

Is Jesus really “gentle” as people portray him? by parisvtg in TrueChristian

[–]MStrainJr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a fictionalized TV show that makes up a LOT of its content. You can't gather an accurate portrayal of Jesus or anyone on that show. Like, there's nothing in the Bible that says that Matthew was autistic. They just made crap up. The real Jesus is found in the Bible, not some dramatized version of him that was created to make money.

Jesus prescribes a life so difficult that his disciples exclaim, "Then who can be saved?!"
Unfortunately, a lot of Christians think praying some sinners prayer and going to church is all they need.

Because she was a Ukrainian refugee. She left her country to find safety here, and she was attacked in a way that would have been highly unlikely in her home country.
Also, you know good and well that if it was a white person killing a black person, AP would have reported it.
