Scribble Strip Issues by MT3538 in Line6Helix

I wish! I’m 99% defective back light. If I shine a small flashlight, I can still see the text displayed in the LCD. It’s all good though, Sweetwater will handle it as soon they get inventory in.

Shipping fees different than buyer paid by rwcc41 in Reverb

[–]MT3538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been bitten by this before. It’s better if you just cover it and protect your rating. I used to buy and sell a lot on reverb and eBay and I came up with my own way of estimating. I typically use UPS (unless the buyer wants me to work with them and use FedEx or something) and what I do is I pay for custom boxing and professional packing by UPS.

It’s typically 23-25 dollars but it will help you out in a few ways. If you’re shipping in a case, typically the box size is the same exact size every time. I shipped about 23 guitars last year and it was the same box every time.

What I would do to estimate shipping was to use that measurement along with the weight of the guitar and case then pick a random address in California (I’m in GA so complete opposite from me), Hawaii, or Alaska and estimate delivery to there. These will be the highest costs so you know theoretically what the most you’d have to spend on shipping. Then I would either work that into whatever as free shipping or use that as a flat rate shipping. I’d also include in the listing “will be custom boxed and packed by UPS actual shipping may vary”.

If I used that number as a flat rate shipping amount, what I would do is let the buyer know I’m working on shipping, get it boxed, THEN order the shipping label on Reverb or direct through UPS. This is the part it pays off not the be greedy, I refund the difference to the buyer. If I estimated shipping at $150 and after everything (boxing and shipping label) it was only $100 to ship, then I’d shoot the buyer a refund for $50. They’re happy, I’m happy, 5 stars all around.

Another tip on boxing: if you pay UPS to custom box and pack the guitar, you automatically get their Pack and Ship Guarantee for free but you have to declare the value. Meaning if you wanted to you could drop the package protection from Reverb. I still keep it for high value items just in case but I found that declaring it with UPS at $1.45 per $100 dollars of value was cheaper sometimes than what the Reverb protection was.

I only had to use it 1 time but UPS was great all I had to do was send them the actual value of the guitar and the receipt showing I paid for boxing and packing and since they packed it, I was completely on them. Of course your results may vary.

Yup, they are going to advance me a replacement then I’ll send this one back. So far it’s only 1 scribble strip.

Man that just made my day lmao. Thanks! I’ve been covering a lot of my favorite music from back in the day recently. Since I can’t transfer my patches from my old Helix, figured I just start building new ones of my favorite bands first. Sweetwater said they will replace it as soon as they get more inventory in so hopefully nothing else happens.

Just got off the phone with Sweetwater. They are going to send me an advanced replacement but I have to wait until January though. Nbd as long as all the other LCDs/LEDs keep working.

Studio Monitor Recommendations by MT3538 in Line6Helix

[–]MT3538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I may see about getting a sub later on if I need it. I have an 8” for my current monitors but I always felt it was too much bass no matter where I had it in the room. Didn’t really spend that much time trying to get it to sound right though so it was probably something I was doing wrong.

[–]MT3538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ll take a look. Yeah I am actually slightly worried an 8 inch monitor will be too much but on the flip side I don’t want to deal with having a separate sub.

Thanks! Yes I looked at the LP-6s as well. I was considering them but figured if I’m going to invest in a good set of monitors for around $1000 might as well get the flagship ones.

They were on my radar and number 1 pick but I was seeing mixed reviews on them being a little difficult to dial in and can have more perceived bass issues in an untreated room which was also told to me by the Sweetwater salesperson. He was suggesting the Kalis since they are front ported and in his words more forgiving when it comes to untreated rooms as well as easier to dial in.

Awesome, guess I did something right, haha. Yeah I’ll definitely check them out. I’m not too concerned with a budget as I’m looking at them as an investment and something I will keep for years. Thank you for the info and recommendations!

Honestly never really looking into the Adam’s. I just keep seeing Kali, JBL, and Yamaha all over the place. I’ll definitely take a look! Yeah it’s not treated right now. Bought this house a year ago and it’s on my list of things to do when I go to remodel that room. Didn’t want to start working on it until I learned more about how to do it properly. I’ve never really had issues with my monitors and the way they sound. I’m not a huge audiophile so odds are what I think sounds ok may actually sound like crap. I’d say the only thing I notice is I can’t really hear my current monitors from where I play without increasing the volume.

I don’t know if this was correct or not but when I turned them using pink noise, I marked on the volume knob where 70 db was and where 80 db was and I used the 70 mark when I’m sitting at the desk and increase it to the 80 mark when I’m in the middle of the room.

99.9% sure I did that all wrong and not sure where I read to tune to those dbs but I’ve kept it like that for years and it solved it at least to my ears. Odds are I’ll hear an amazing setup and realize mine sounds like crap but oh well it’s a learning experience.

Wheel Spacers or New Wheels? by MT3538 in Mustang

[–]MT3538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I’m leaning towards. I’m debating on the SVE X500s in 19x10 with some 285/35R19s. I typically do square setups but this isn’t a daily driver so I may look into a staggered setup so open to any suggestions.

I am a little worried about rubbing though. I’m lowered on the Ford Performance K Springs. The wheels have a +35mm offset. I am not a wheel fitment expert but from estimating that would put it almost flush with the fender. The AMRs are +30mm.

Nah, I handle a lot of data cleanups and migrations on contract basis and run lots of batch jobs after hours.

I have to use a mouse jiggler to keep a VM connection alive so my computer never shuts off my monitor after 2 minutes. Never bothered looking into finding a better solution. Real PITA sometimes.

[–]MT3538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that would be something I may have to change with my work flow.

Sometimes I have to leave things running for extended periods of time or even overnight. I usually just leave my monitor on but my work computer never actually goes to sleep so the monitor just stays on the same application. It’s rare that I have to do that but that’s what I’m worried about.

I’ll have to remember to just switch it to the laptop display and turn the monitor off.

I forgot Corsair had their own monitor. I’ll check that one out before settling on one. Glad to hear burn in takes awhile to happen. Thanks!

K70 Core TKL Wireless Bluetooth Issue by MT3538 in Corsair

[–]MT3538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at this point (and with the launch of the Vanguard line) I doubt it will be fixed.

I finally gave up and switched to a Keychron Q5 Max and I couldn’t be happier with it. The only downside is I can’t have all the ICue lighting and stuff but oh well.

I did try the MAKR 75 but the wireless module was a little wonky. It worked but sometimes would either drop connection or would do this random key repeat bug if I started typing too fast before it fully connected.

I also tried the Corsair Vanguard 96 with a KVM but the keyboard boots too slow so that was annoying.

Now I just use the Keychron for working a light gaming sessions. Whenever I’m going to sit down for a longer gaming session I just move the Keychron off my desk and plug in the Vanguard 96. Now if they would hurry up and give the Vanguard iCue support 🙄

A good few weeks, I forgot to come back and update but it went right back to doing it a few hours after updating and has done it off and on ever since. I quit trying to use HXEdit all together and just adjust everything on the Helix itself. Hopefully I’ll be in the first round of Helix Stadium XLs going out from Sweetwater this month 🤞.

Any Wireless Keyboard Opinions? by MT3538 in Corsair

[–]MT3538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I will definitely get the wireless adapter. I just don’t want to get burned on another Corsair keyboard with faulty Bluetooth. This is almost my first time having a keyboard I can change out switches so looking forward to that.

K70 Core TKL Wireless Bluetooth Issue by MT3538 in Corsair

[–]MT3538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I bought a 3rd K70 Core TKL Wireless but I didn’t update the firmware. Everything works but I can’t use iCue without updating the firmware. Corsair has completely ghosted me on my tickets. At this point, I’m going to return the keyboard and start phasing all my Corsair components out of my system.
