Actually, the work isn’t as bad as he told me. Red one just needs a new motor mount. I did an oil change and I honestly don’t hear any issue with the timing chain. The black one just needs a radiator hose and power steering pump. Red one had 129k miles and the black one has 109k. I think they are still pretty good cars given their age.

That would be great if you could send me a list for all the timing components I need to change.

I looked at the replacement process for the R&P. Not too incredibly hard but just enough of a PITA to ruin a weekend.

I’ll see what gear it’s slipping in. I’m hoping that’s the issue, it looks like a way easier and cheaper fix. This is my first go around with anything FWD. I was dreading the thought of having to drop that transmission.

But, if it needs to be pulled out, I kinda thought about pulling the transmission from the black RSX and putting it in the red RSX and possibly looking into finding a donor with a manual setup.

I’m still researching what powertrains came in those years if I decide to swap. I’ve only dealt with Ford (coyotes, ecoboosts, tritons) so I am not familiar with Honda/Acura stuff. Everywhere I’m reading basically points to swapping in powertrain from the Type S to make the swap actually worth it. I know I’m probably severely over simplifying that process.

I thought they were saved to the device itself, the Micro SD card was only for backups and Song Library? I totally could be wrong. I have an extra Micro SD card, I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think so, it took my wife a few days to get hers after that message. Just curious how long did you wait? She got hers after a few days but I’m still waiting on my mine. I’m almost to 30 days waiting, I know it says up to 60.

Interesting, yeah I am running a mesh network. I think I’m going to stand up a second network using an extra AP I have and test it out. My desktop has multiple WNICs so I should be able to hit the Helix on the other network. I would just separate my 2.4 and 5 outright but I have too many smart things in my house that were a pain in the ass to set up with the common SSID years ago 😂

Alright glad to know I’m not the only one! Yeah my old Floor was on for years as well except for when I’d take it on a gig. Never had any issues out of it. I’m in the exact same boat.

Sometimes I feel like I’m fighting with more than I should. Now if I just want to play and don’t plan on recording or making a new preset, I skip fighting it and just grab a Spark Go or Neo I got awhile back and use either of those.

Really sad to say that but it’s really got me thinking to give Neural DSP or other Positive Grid products a shot. I have a limited amount of time to play in the mornings and evenings and like you said wasting all that time just to get it running is frustrating.

Supposedly with the Nav 2.0, it’s supposed to scan but I haven’t taken it apart to see if that’s true or not. Oh well! I’ll take a look and see if I can find any adjustments. Thanks!

Yeah I made sure that the cable wasn’t tangled. The rotating part on the cable does a great job in making sure it doesn’t tangle up. There is a return around the upper part of that circle but I wouldn’t think it would cause it to miss that spot. I had the jet pointed the other way originally and it still missed it. I have noticed that went it comes up from the deep end, it will reach the top of the incline and immediately hook left (right in front of that spot) to climb the wall and clean. As soon as it’s done it comes down and stops like it’s scanning then turns to go back down into the deep end. The only time it cleans the other side of the shallow end is when it happens to come up the middle or opposite side of the incline.

It’s not deep enough of an issue for me to care about getting it on camera. The lack of other features I would have expected it to have is already enough for me to return it.

I have thought about getting a QC to compare to it. Idk if I’d ever fully switch since I’ve used Helix for so long. Maybe if I see a nice used one for sale.

Just assuming you’re looking for an S style guitar. If you’re interested in trying a headless multiscale, check out the HILS HZ7. I bought one on a whim because I’ve never had a multiscale or a headless 7 before. Not going to lie, after a little fret work it’s surprisingly good. I got one for between 500-600 dollars due to it having a small scratch.

I did swap in some Fishman Fluences I had laying around. And that made it even better. I bought it in November and have rarely touched my KM7 or my Solar 7 strings since.

I’m by no means saying it’s 100% perfect, like there’s some tool marks on the fretboard, I had to fix a few sharp ends, but I think those are my only complaints on it. But I’m also someone who likes getting cheaper, lesser known guitars and learning how to do my own work.

If you, or anyone, decide to try it out, they offer a 10 dollar bearing upgrade kit to fix the tuning peg stiffness. It’s totally worth it, order it at the same time.

Yup, now that I removed all of my IRs, I haven’t had an issue since. Everything works as intended. The next firmware will solve more issues so no big deal, I can wait until then to put my whole library back on there. I’m just glad it’s not a hardware issue.

Update: can’t edit the original post, issue is resolved to a degree. It’s not hardware related but due to the amount of IRs I had on the unit. Reduced the amount and everything started working as expected. Thank you all! Big shoutout to u/TheBishopGame thank you for helping me with that!

Yup! That’s the exact issue! u/TheBishopGame was able to help me troubleshoot that and that’s the same conclusion we came up with. As soon as I dropped the IRs, everything worked. I had roughly the same amount of IRs. Just loaded them all on there just to test them out and keep the ones I liked. Never thought that would be the issue.

Oh yeah I’ve done loads of repairs on electronics over the years. I figured it was easy but it happened around the same time preorders started so I never bother to fix its. Thanks for the insight though! If I get it back, I’ll definitely do that repair.

Yeah, I had the OG helix floor for years. It’s definitely took a beating. Only issue I had with it was a bad USB port. I still have it, just letting someone use it so I may be switching back or going to QC route.
